  1. HOW DID YOU SPEND $300 ON BROKEN CIRCLES IN ONE DAY?!
  2. S/T is currently available in the Jars of Clay webstore for $20. I got it a couple weeks ago and it's really nice. Gatefold, 180g, side D is the complete "hidden track", etc.
  3. I just happened to see it on Graveface's twitter. They put out so much good stuff! It's the one label where I would actually consider buying one of those subscriptions.
  4. Graveface has some really good records on sale for $10 post paid. The store link from the main page shows regular prices, so you have to go directly here: http://www.graveface.com/holiday.html I was pretty excited to see Hospital Ships on there.
  5. I got the Pinback 7", which was the only one I wanted. Both songs are really good, even better than the last one. I sure hope their new full-length comes out soon.
  6. Sweet bonus! That box set is amazing but way out of my price range. I've been listening to the regular vinyl version a ton over the last few weeks though. So good!
  7. You're saying you got 2 A/B sides and not a C/D (or vice versa), right? I know this happens from time to time, but I haven't heard about it on this particular record. Since it's an assembly mistake and not an equipment mistake, I don't think it's usually a widespread issue.
  8. Did you by chance order the Dear Hunter CD special edition box set? I did, then this was my next order and I got the same thing, and I just figured it was an accidental carryover. Nope. I've never ordered anything directly from Triple Crown before.
  9. The Triple Crown Merchdirect fills in FREEPOSTER for you in the promo box. Does Triple Crown always do that? I wonder if it's a Brand New poster or something else.
  10. Having spent my formative years in southern California during the late 80's and early 90's, when Beach Boys songs soundtracked commercials for Southwest Airlines, were blasted from every damn ice cream parlor on the coast, and generally served as a backdrop to a caricature of my home state, I can understand what somethingvinyl means about them being under-appreciated. Having discovered the internet, however, I realize their genius is well-documented and is/has been appreciated by a multitude. I'm just glad I could somewhat forget my juvenile associations and discover the "real" Beach Boys. As for SMiLE, I love the songs, the vinyl sound quality is amazing, and the packaging is very nice. No disappointment here.
  11. That's what I think, but it still says "2xLP on 180-gram colored vinyl" under the product description on Amazon after almost a month. I guess they won't realize it's wrong until someone receives their black copy and complains.
  12. Went to my local store yesterday and got this for $8.99! I think it was because it's got a corner bend, but still a great deal. Sounds fantastic as well. Can somebody who ordered from Amazon let us know if it's actually colored? I've never seen Polyvinyl release a color without mentioning it on their site, so I'm thinking the mention of color on Amazon may be a mistake.
  13. Usually it means they take a bunch of leftover pellets from recent jobs and mix them together. Pressing plants often charge the same for "random mixed color" as they do for black, so it's a thrifty way to tag your release "limited edition colored vinyl!" Sometimes you get lucky but I generally don't like the way they turn out.
  14. Castanets "First Light's Freeze" seems to bring the best out of my set-up.
  15. Agreed. It's like Friday "cook's choice" at the school cafeteria.
  16. A large portion of the Chicago music scene hates SW quite a bit. Saw one of those rich, entitled little trolls at a Puffy Areolas/Running show back in the Winter standing at the door talking about blah blah blah with needing money to go on tour. Go back to the suburbs kid. For a truly great laugh, check some of the completely pompous crap they spout off - http://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/smith-westerns-chicago-question-and-answer/Content?oid=3306474 Haha, what's funny is I went to that show with zero bias against them and they still came across EXACTLY like that. Their playing/singing was awful too, and between every song the singer would beg the crowd to hook him up with drugs after the show. As I left, I basically felt like I'd been stuck sitting next to a bunch of scene kids in the mall food court. But anyway....Yuck! So good!
  17. Yuck won me over when I saw them open for Smith Westerns back toward the beginning of the year and I've been listening to their record regularly ever since. It's solid from start to finish and I really thought they'd be huge by now. Smith Westerns, on the other hand, were beyond terrible.
  18. I've seen this number listed before, but I really don't think it's accurate. Before this album was released Sufjan wasn't even selling out 500-seat venues. I find it very hard to believe that Asthmatic Kitty started out with a press of 5,000, especially when overall vinyl sales were way below what they are now. Plus, I pre-ordered the record, got the Superman, ordered for a friend's birthday about 6 months later and got a second press. Wouldn't that have been an insane amount of vinyl to sell in a few months? I mean, we're not talking Nirvana.
  19. I got a few PMs but no payment, so I'm bumping this again.
  20. I really enjoyed Damien Jurado's interview in this series as well.
