  1. Price includes U.S. media mail. Will ship in a proper mailer. $12 AFI - Black Sails in the Sunset (light purple) $12 Get up Kids - Simple Science (pink, hand numbered) $12 Velvet Underground & Nico - S/T (180g gatefold reissue)
  2. I remember reading an article where this study was mentioned. If I remember correctly, it was also pointed out that the problem with cassette sound quality is that it degrades at a significantly faster rate per play than vinyl. So, first listen, cassette's best. After a bunch of plays, vinyl wins. And then the "progressives" favored CDs because the 1,000th listen would sound the same as the first, whereas the vinyl and cassette would hardly be listenable at that point.
  3. That photo is really getting around! You should at least get a shirt or something. Also, "let's go kings" indeed. Can't wait for October 7!
  4. My U.S. press says the exact same thing. It also says "Pressed at RTI" right after that.
  5. I planned to avoid buying any more records this month, but since the quantity available has gone from 130 to 21 in a week, I decided to pull the trigger. At $15ppd it was pretty hard to resist anyway.
  6. 1 available for $7.95 brand new http://www.amazon.com/Let-Go-Vinyl-Nada-Surf/dp/B001UNSZGC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1315116022&sr=8-3 From what I can tell, this is out of print again (no longer available at Barsuk, backordered on other sites). Such a great album.
  7. Pretty sure you can still get a colored copy from the label: http://temporaryresidence.com/descriptions/trr199.php You can email them to make sure, but they usually remove any mention of colored vinyl from the product description once it's sold out.
  8. I'm sure it's possible it's the band's fault in these cases, but in my experience it's the venue's fault when that happens. There are certain venues where I always arrive way late (unless I'm really into the opener) because this happens every time I see a show there. I think it's usually a ploy to sell more drinks. Most people don't buy drinks once the show starts, so they make everyone bored and give them plenty of time to get through a couple beers first.
  9. Bazan is a touring MACHINE! His living room shows are great but I've already seen him twice in the last year, so I think I'll skip this one.
  10. Some vinyl details from http://www.pitchfork.com/news/43478-labels-react-to-sonypias-warehouse-fire/ One of the organizations hit hard was the Beggars Group, which includes Matador, XL, Rough Trade, 4AD, True Panther, Young Turks, and Too Pure. Pitchfork spoke with Beggars chairman Martin Mills earlier today, who stated that the label had lost their entire UK stock-- 750,000 copies in all-- to the fire. Mills said that he estimates it'll take the label 10 days to replace the CDs and at least three months to replace their vinyl stock, and that Beggars expects to recoup manufacturing costs through insurance (other labels' stock could very well be covered as well, since PIAS has insurance too). "Domino has lost a large quantity of its CD and vinyl stock in the Sony DADC fire, which took place last night. While relieved that no-one was injured in the incident, we're upset about the loss and destruction of our stock, and thinking of our friends at other independent labels who were also affected by the fire. We are currently working hard with Sony DADC to maintain our release schedule and keep business going as usual."
  11. I'm going to see the Decemberists and Wye Oak at the Greek on Friday with my brother and I've got 2 extra tickets. Make me an offer if you want them. Here are some ideas: -trade me some records -buy me the Wye Oak record and a beer or something at the show -some cash -a gift card you got 7 months ago and still haven't used -etc. You can even impress your date by pretending you spent 100 bucks (which is what the tickets actually cost) on a super classy night. I will totally ignore you at the show if you want. You get the idea. PM me if you want them.
  12. That black and white swirl matches the cover art so well!
  13. Thanks, sorry I didn't check your site again before I asked. I still can't decide between the teal and clear/black.
  14. I'd still like to see what the teal looks like if you get a chance.
  15. McMenamins. They have bunch of other locations as well, many of which are also renovations of old buildings with a cool history.
  16. Bridgeport brewery has $3 pints all day and night every Monday. Their food is great too. Hair of the Dog brewery has some excellent beer but the hours are pretty limited. Deschutes brewery always has some great limited stuff on tap that you can't buy anywhere else. I'm a huge fan of Rogue. Sign up for Rogue Nation (it's free) and you get 75 cents off every pint. The Pied Cow is a nice place to chill. It's an old house and you can either sit in the converted living room or in the big backyard, where you can order a hookah, beer, wine, cheese platters, sandwiches, stuff like that. Ole Ole serves my favorite burritos of all time. Plus they're huge and they only cost $4. You mentioned Voodoo, but I've gotta say, I'm not a fan at all. I feel like they're pure novelty. People get a kick out of ordering a "cock and balls" or "blazer blunt" or whatever, but the fact is they're about the worst tasting donuts I've had. You of course need to go to Powell's if you like books even a little bit. And there are bunch of record stores worth checking out, which you probably already know about.
  17. Did you use Titebond II? They specify that glue in the how-to, so I'm going to buy a bottle of that exact brand and see how it works on a thrift store record.
