  1. Wow that is ridiculous. By the way I'm getting half the record price plus shipping. I think that's fair. Yeah, I'd say that's totally fair. I got JEW Bleed American shipped to me in nothing but a grocery bag last year. The jacket had creases in every corner but the vinyl was ok (amazingly). I only paid $23 including shipping and they refunded me $7, so I can't be too upset. I mean, I would have paid $15 for Bleed American with a creased jacket if I saw it in a record store. On the other hand, what the hell is wrong with someone who ships a record across the country in a grocery bag?
  2. Good, man, owning a house means you NEED your record collection; no more moving it, you can crank up the volume, etc. Glad you didn't have to sell it all off.
  3. i've bought several records from amazon and never had a problem. Y U HATIN'?! Yeah, I don't get that statement either. They usually arrive in a big box, but all of my orders have been really well protected. Plus, it's usually at my doorstep a couple days after I order it. As for this EBAY GUY, if he's going to charge $11 to ship, it should come inside a padded metal briefcase.
  4. Just to be clear, these are FREE
  5. I was comped 2 tickets to this Owl City show at the Fox but I'm not a fan. PM me if you want them and are able to go.
  6. I had this on tap tonight. Damn good.
  7. There's a pic on the first page of this thread and several on the UO website if you haven't seen them. I don't really like the center labels and the red vinyl looks lighter than I'd like (I think it should match the lyric booklet).I also like the standard version's nice tip-on jacket, and it sounds like the UO version is in a cheaper non-gatefold jacket. The novelty factor really seems to be the only thing the red version has going for it.
  8. If they sound the same to you, keep the Toshiba. That ion is pretty ugly.
  9. Slinch speaks the truth. That's an incredible deal on the pro-ject!
  10. Oh shit, thanks for letting me know! I will never listen to this band again. Also, I'll help you spread the word so that other people over the age of 13 don't accidentally listen to it.
  11. Well that explains it. That actually sounds really cool; much better than standard red and green.
  12. Haha, I've never seen instructions on an order page about how to see the color of the vinyl (https://www.auralexploits.com/product09_9106.htm). It makes me curious though, what's the color if you don't hold it up to the light? I got my shipping confirmation, so I guess I'll find out soon.
  13. wow, I'd have to totally agree with you on that Well it's settled then: this is the official, indisputable rank of Death Cab's work
  14. Where does this one land for you? Here's my unsolicited ranking: Transatlanticism We Have the Facts... Photo Album Plans Narrow Stairs Codes and Keys Something About Airplanes
  15. Very much enjoyed a pint of Knuckle Sandwich double IPA from Bootlegger's.
  16. East coasters, do they sell Mission IPA and Pale at Trader Joe's out there? It's actually brewed by Firestone and is really good for the price ($5.99 for six). I think it's gonna be my main jam this summer.
  17. I like the music pretty well but Gibbard's lyrics are so damn didactic I can hardly stand it. Of all the Death Cab components, I never thought the lyrics would be the let down.
  18. Did he answer any questions about the new album art during the first half? Obviously it's a symbol that's thematically related, but I'm not sure exactly how. If you guys haven't seen it yet, it's the reflection of a fit naked young woman walking in front of a (thankfully) clothed old man. The gatefold is a close-up of the two messing with a Ouija board (belly button to right above the va-jay-jay in her case). Their hands are barely touching while they magnify one of the letters. Any thoughts on what it means?
  19. Thanks! +1. I think I like that acoustic version of Wolves better than the one on the album.
  20. Haha, right you are. I got too carried away with what sounded good at the moment. Fixed. Mmm, Hopslam is good too
  21. .....because lots of good stuff doesn't qualify for the dark beer thread. Aaaanyway, by local pub just got 2 kegs of Pliny the Elder. And since I got the new Bazan, The Books "Lost and Safe", and Castanets "First Lights Freeze" in the mail today, this is going to be a very good week. Back to the the thread topic: Pliny the Elder, Blind Pig, Dogfish Head 90 Minute What about you???
