Tooth & Nail Sell Catalog To Capitol Christian Music Group
mdb replied to jewfro's topic in Everything Else Message Board
I don't read that as, "Nothing from Tooth and Nail will be released on vinyl." It could just mean Capitol will handle their own vinyl releases. Maybe they just don't want to deal with the issues that have arisen with licensing big albums to fly-by-night vinyl "labels" or maybe they have plans to release them in a particular way. Of course Capitol won't bother with most T&N bands, but it doesn't mean an album like YAMS will never be reissued. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see vinyl releases, but I don't think that statement means vinyl is out of the question. They have the "Capitol Vault" series and whatnot, so vinyl is at least on their radar. -

I love everything about this release! Well done! Just out of curiosity, which lyrics were most requested?

They have a pretty efficient system though. While you're in line they give you a paper with all the RSD releases listed and you check a box next to each one you want. Then they take your list and assign you a number with an estimated time to return. During that time you can browse the store, go get lunch, participate in some RSD related events, etc. Meanwhile, an employee bags the stuff you want (everything's behind the counter) that's still available. They also keep an updated list of things that are sold out so that you don't spend your time waiting for something that's already gone, although some stuff does sell out between the time you request it and it's your turn to get your stuff bagged. There are tons of people, but it's relatively calm.

PO: The National "trouble will find me"
mdb replied to LIGMA_BALLZ's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I double checked my Insound account and, sure enough, I got the awesome purple High Violet bundled with a shirt for $23 shipped. Man, 2010...those were the days. -
I got mine today and, as expected, the labels are wrong. Also, most of the jackets have a thin black line accross the front where they rubbed against their cardboard slot (they vary between 1-4 inches) and there're indentations on each end at the same spot. I wish Barsuk would have just released these without AinR and their fancy failed attempts. HOWEVER, two minutes after I found the actual "We Have the Facts..." and dropped the needle, I completely forgot how the record was labeled and got lost in the incredible sound of the album. The re-master is phenomenal and the record sounds better than I could have imagined. Obviously AinR and the pressing plant need to right their wrongs but I don't regret buying this at all if the sound quality on each album is this good.

Would anyone be willing to share their download code with me? My copy was missing it and I'm sick of waiting for XL to respond to my message. Edit: I'm set, thanks! -

They send an email with a tracking number when it ships. -
I've noticed BT always does this. The number listed in stock is always relatively low and then it just keeps getting replenished. For example, I've seen "It's all Crazy..." dip into the teens multiple times only to see it back around 100 a few days later. I don't think it's anything sketchy; they never claim the initial number in stock is the total number pressed. If something is super limited (like the Christmas press of "Brother, Sister") it's mentioned in the description.

Well, I bought the cd box because I wanted the essays and lyrics. I don't care even a little bit about the stickers, poster, tattoos or ornament and I can't justify an extra $100 to have the songs on vinyl when I'll only really listen to it 4 weeks per year, especially the traditional songs. For $10-$15 though, I would love to have his originals on vinyl. They're my favorite songs on the album and I'd probably even listen to them outside of Christmas. Maybe I'm the only one.

I don't know about you guys, but Sufjan's originals are my favorite tracks on here. Although I love most of the covers too, I'd love to be able to just spin his 20+ songs straight through. Here's the thing: He made all of his original songs public domain and in one of his essays encouraged people to use them however they wish. How about somebody makes some sweet original screen printed cover art, presses them on red and green vinyl or something, and sells them at cost? Nobody's making money off Sufjan's work, we just get to have a concise collection of his originals.

A bunch of independent record stores are giving this super nice hand screen printed lithograph with Babel. My local shop had the record on sale for 16.99 and the lithograph is practically worth that much alone. You can see it here: http://s3.amazonaws.com/broadtime_photo/418455039989

Respect for Joyful Noise. And they emailed the download code, so at least we don't have to wait another month to hear it.
