  1. I think it's better to take the shrink off and put them in a thick poly sleeve. When kept in the shrink, the edge isn't protected, and some people think the tight wrap even causes wear on the jacket. I like the act of pulling the jacket out of a nice plastic sleeve every time I listen to it, and I think old records with the original shrink look kind of trashy. PS: I get 25 poly sleeves for $5 from my local record store, but people on here can recommend places to buy them online as well.
  2. I used to store some records in a room that was built into what used to be part of the attic. It gets pretty hot up there in the summer and some of those records warped so badly I couldn't even play them. Luckily I had all my "good" records stored in the main part of the house. It served as a sort of experiment/warning to me, so I would suggest not leaving them in a room that's too hot to comfortably hang out in. If you wouldn't want to sit in there all day, neither do your records. Also, maybe this should be a different thread, but do you guys get more warped records in the mail during the summer? I very rarely get a new record in the mail that's warped during the winter, but in the summer it's relatively common for records to arrive with a slight warp. I would imagine some of those mail trucks are like ovens inside.
  3. Well they've probably sold more vinyl in the last week than they usually do in a couple months, so I wouldn't be surprised if they've just run out of packing material, haha. My first order of 3 records came in 2 lp mailers inside of a big box with brown paper and I was thinking, "damn, that's excessive, but I like it." I made another order, which I fully expect to arrive in nothing more than a grocery bag. The thing is, for less than five bucks each, I'll be happy as long as they're playable.
  4. Whenever I see a package from Saddle Creek or Polyvinyl on my doorstep I get so much more excited than usual. Besides the high quality pressings, those notes, free airheads, stickers and buttons really make a big difference.
  5. If anyone wants a coke bottle/brown copy of In Motion and doesn't want to deal with the slow service, buy it from me I'll ship it tomorrow!
  6. One down, five to go. If you think the price is too high, pm me with an offer.
  7. The new Dolorean is excellent; his best yet. Dude does not get enough credit.

  10. My favorite is Blue Screen Life, but Summer in Abaddon is a very close second.
  11. I finally got a few that I've been meaning to get for years: Decemberists - Picaresque Explosions in the Sky - All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone Pinback - Summer in Abaddon And it already shipped. Awesome!
  12. Me too! It looks a lot greener than in the photos; almost like a white record that's been rubbed in a lot of grass and a little dirt and then washed off, which I think fits the artwork perfectly.
  13. This album needs a super nice 180g re-issue more than any other. Music on Vinyl seems like a good candidate to get it done, based on the kind of stuff they've been doing lately. I sure hope somebody is working on it because it's becoming increasingly difficult to resist those insane ebay prices.
  14. Your logic is undeniable. This. Also, I think most people eventually understood it's a repress (that became obvious pretty early on). What wasn't clear was why they didn't hype it like every other big reissue gets hyped. Major label or not, I've never seen such a high profile, high ebay dollar album get a stealth repress. For example, they made such a big deal about it when they re-released Moon and Antarctica. Can anyone think of an example of an album that was out of print for over 5 years, regularly fetched over $100 on ebay, and then just reappeared out of nowhere? I can't think of one. Anyway, it's probably just all the ex high school journalism geeks digging for the story.
  15. I would like to know this as well. I wonder if Travis has a contact at Sony that could explain. How bout it Travis, you up for some investigative reporting?
  16. Nice. The only reason I'm not entirely dreading another Monday tomorrow is that Take Care might be on my doorstep when I get off work. C'mon postman!
  17. Agreed. I could tell Yuck were ashamed to be on the same label when they opened those boxes. haha
  18. I saw them open for Smith Westerns a few months back and really enjoyed their set. In fact, they saved the night; Smith Westerns sucked live so bad that I haven't listened to them since. Funny story at that show: the Yuck album was supposed to come out in like 4 days but the label sent them two giant boxes of vinyl to start selling that night. I watched a couple of the guys in the band gather around the merch table and they were like, "Oh sweet, our records are here," and then they open them up and they're all records from that band Tennis. The guitar player says, "Bloody hell, they sent us fucking Tennis?" and then he opens the other box and it was a whole other supply of Tennis records. I was cracking up, but I guess you had to be there. I got a vinyl copy of Yuck the next week and I'm still pretty into that album.
  19. Luuuuuuuucky. My local store isn't getting a white copy but I'm hoping they get some screen prints. I really want one of those.
  20. I wish. Let us know how it is, even though I'm sure it will be amazing.
  21. Sony may be running out Is there any way to get someone from Sony to explain what the real deal is with these things? I mean, I know they're an identical re-press, but the whole release has just been so mysterious and weird. No announcement, only a few places have them, stock runs out quickly then returns, know what I mean?
