  1. Great lineup. Too far to attend.
  2. I completely agree. Crimson is a great album! That last one was pretty embarrassing, though.
  3. Whoops! Thanks for the heads up! That's weird, I remember writing a funny description for this record, I dunno what happened.
  4. These are home theater, multi-channel receivers and aren't needed or useful for stereo listening.
  5. You can get a good vintage tube integrated in good shape for under $300 and it will sound great! Go to audiogon.com and do some searches for Eico, Sansui (you're looking for vintage, tube integrateds), HH Scott, and Fisher. I have a Scott 222C that I picked up for $230. I wound up spending another $250 on repairs but they were for custom items that aren't really necessary for the average user. It sounds amazing and it looks cool. You cannot get ANYTHING brand new for less than $300 that can touch the quality of a vintage tube amp for the same price.
  6. Desktop at my work computer. Taylor! <3
  7. Thanks guys! I'll hopefully be adding a few more things later today but most of the best stuff is already up.
  8. Hey guys, trying to raise money to press new records so I'm selling some stuff I don't really care for. There's some good stuff in there, including some Against Me! first presses, some Gaslight Anthem first presses and Lagrecia. There's also some stupid shit in there that I'm not sure why I own so I'm getting rid of it. I'l be adding more stuff over the next couple days, including some DVDs and maybe even T-Shirts. http://shop.ebay.com/muyautenticorecs/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1
  9. This really is the wrong forum to ask this stuff. Do google searches and check out www.vinylengine.com and www.audiogon.com Most of the people on this forum are more interested in amassing large quantities of records (or even the same record) than sound quality. That is NOT a knock against this forum, it's a record collecting forum, not an audiophile forum. The few people that do care have upgraded from their cheapy stuff to a Rega P1, Project Debut or Technics 1200 and then never plan on upgrading from that point. Odds are, most people have never listened to the difference or done any comparisons themselves, they just recommend the player they have because they're happy with it but they have no experience with anything else. Personally, I would recommend the Project, but after lots of listening on different turntables I'm a believer in belt-driven systems. After lots of research and testing I settled on a Rega P3-24 with TTPSU and Rega Elys II cart for my price range, but that's way out of your budget. However, for the same amount of money I know guys that would pick a modded Technics and they'd be happy as a clam, and that's all that matters. First and foremost, try to compare different setups. I don't know where you live but odds are you have an audio shop around that carries turntables, you probably just don't know it. Do a little searching and see if you can find one. Or find people that will let you compare. Then do research and figure it out. At that point, just follow your ears, if you're happy that's all that matters, you don't need to impress anyone else but yourself with your system. Good luck!
  10. I've done plenty of 6 hour drives by myself (So Cal to Phoenix multiple times, So Cal to Santa Cruz, etc) and I can easily do those without a problem. I find the alone time relaxing and find the time flies by once I get lost in my thoughts. I usually do the trips with only one stop in the middle to gas up and grab food and then it's back on the road. If I could make it the entire way without gassing up I would. 24 hours on the other hand would be rough, but doable. Just have plenty of music to listen to. I usually pick a few albums I want to listen to all the way through without skipping... extra points if I know all the words and can sing along the whole time.
  11. Fair enough. I got the impression that you were calling him out based on the wording of your post. It's just people on the internet start acting entitled about this stuff when they don't know the first thing about what it takes to get a record released. Anyways, the Mountain Goats rule.
  12. I bought something Saturday night and checked online and now the item is on sale (as of yesterday). If I take in the receipt will they refund the difference or tell me to get screwed? Normally I don't do that shit, I don't like to be "that guy" that complains over a couple bucks, but I have to go back there today anyways and $10 is $10 so I figured if I could get it back I will. Will they tell me to go fuck myself or will they refund the difference?
  13. Did anyone tell you to buy that record? No. It was YOUR impatience that bid so high. Maybe flood didn't plan on putting anymore up, but when he sold one for $50 he realized it might be a good idea. Or maybe he just wanted to try to recoup his costs on this record. Have you ever plopped down thousands of dollars to make sure a record gets pressed? No? When you do, you'll realize there is no money to be made doing this shit. In fact, it's hard enough to break even on pressing costs. If a label can help recoup those costs by selling tests/special pressings at a higher price and the fans (YOU) are willing to pay that, then good for them. It helps get more great records pressed because it pulls the label out of debt, bit by bit. Don't kid yourself, flood didn't buy mountains of coke or pimp his ride with your $50; he helped pay off credit card debt or put that money towards a new record getting put out.
  14. Guys, you can only choose yellow if you order the 4 pack with all 4 colors.
  15. Picked up a white copy! I was in the hotel room for this set, so I'm stoked to hear this.
  16. Wow, late to the party. Not gonna comment on the Jeff Ott/rape thing. It's the same old argument every time someone mentions Fifteen/Crimpshrine on a messageboard. Anyways, I can honestly say Fifteen changed my life. Jeff's lyrics didn't help me through the type of shit that Wayne had to deal with, but they totally made me question everything I had been taught my entire life and changed my outlook on things. Fifteen is one of the greatest bands ever. Choice of a New Generation is probably my favorite record.
  17. In California if you buy a Hybrid you get a sticker that allows you access into the carpool lane. It looks like this Anyways, just for shits and giggles, I have a sticker on my 88 Toyota truck that looks like that but it says "NO ACCESS CALIFORNIA GAS GUZZLER." It's dumb and I got it for free. I'll probably peel it off because I kinda feel like a dumb right wing nutcase.
  18. False. Brad is a top dude and loads of fun. And it is a very nice hat. That was really just another one of my poorly timed/poorly executed jokes. The dude seems top notch and well educated, I was just trying to mess around and get him to lighten up a bit. Drabley, seriously man... <3
  19. Except in person you get the added facial expressions, voice intonation, and inflection to decipher a joke from a serious statement. I thought you were serious too. Nah, I wasn't serious. I fuck around far too much for my own good and it defintely never comes across very well on the internet.
  20. I don't blame you for not caring about what a bunch of idiots on a messageboard think. But what about your friends? I know a couple guys like you, taking everything way too seriously with no room to joke about things. Everyone just talks shit about them behind their backs for being too uptight and serious and boring. You just might have the same effect on people if you don't think there's even room for jokes on a fucking internet messageboard.
  21. This is the most ridiculous thing I've read in a long time. Pretty much exactly what I was going for.
