  1. I've been watching a lot of The State lately and realized I've had a crush on Michael Ian Black for 17 YEARS.
  2. you are from portland. my future home! i adore that city Yaaaay! I just moved here 2 months ago, I'm loving it so much.
  3. Ah, that's awesome. Yeah, growing up around Seattle, John was always one of my biggest inspirations as a singer. Undertow will always have the #1 place in my heart, but Iamthethorn and Heiress are close seconds.
  4. Yes. Which reminds me of the Cute Lepers from Seattle, who opened for the Tranzmitors last time they were there.
  5. http://sodasrule.tumblr.com I just started it not long ago. It doesn't really have much content (or even direction) because I've been without internet of my own for a month now. Hoping that when my internet gets installed on Tuesday that it will pick back up. I'm pretty new to Tumblr, but I don't see the option to leave comments on things I post. Is that just the theme I'm using?
  6. Chill out, bro. Take it out on the football field. Go State! Nah man, I'm with Mr. Smith. I know that if I don't want to be hassled to stay to the sides or in the back, but if someone thinks it's their right to put their hands all over me when I'm minding my own business... they've got another thing coming.
  7. "Acoustic folk rock"?? Does your friend even listen to Bomb the Music Industry!? Dude's pretty knowledgeable, I would assume he does.
  8. As long as you appreciate it, man. Mail her a thank you card. My brother just turned 29, and he has a wife and two kids and cannot find a fucking stable job. He's separated himself from us and we're the ones who have helped him out immensely through the years. But he doesn't give us shit for appreciation, so let me tell you that as long as you're respectful and still have a soul, do something for that lady who pushed you through her....you get the idea haha Oh, definitely! I talk to my mom every couple days, we're really close. She knows I appreciate the hell out of her.
  9. I usually hang out around the edges or back of the pit at a rowdy show. I'm old and my bones hurt. But I like the energy of everyone else going off, so I still like to be kind of near it. I think the last show I went crazy at was the Undertow reunion show late last year. Got right up front and screamed along, and did my FIRST STAGEDIVE EVER after going to hardcore shows for 13 years! I was stoked. For louder shows that aren't as rowdy (Helms Alee, Boris, etc.) I usually get right up front and do the "serious guy head nod."
  10. I've found that a lot of people aren't aware of these things, as Queen were such a "British band." I'm really interested to see this, and I feel that SBC will follow in Jim Carrey and Will Ferrell's footsteps and make a really deep and touching film when no one really expects him to.
  11. Last night watched a horror film from the last 80s called The Church. Overall not a great movie, but had some decent special effects and creepy scenes. There's also a "devil rape" scene that is ripped off almost shot-for-shot from Rosemary's Baby. The last 2 nights my roommate and I have been watching The State (the TV show that was on MTV) from the very beginning, we're about halfway through Season 2 right now. That show holds up so well, and only got better as it went on. Shame they only did 3 seaons (and the first season was only like 5 episodes)!
  12. Okay, where are you from? Heiress are one of my favourite NW bands at the moment, and I don't know anyone else who would put them on a list, much less the first band on their list. We have to know each other.
  13. WHOA, just saw this - is this available in stores? One of my favourite albums of the 90s.
  14. Visqueen from Seattle. Only their latest album Message To Garcia is available on vinyl, but their other two (King Me and Sunset On Dateland) are excellent as well.
  15. Stoked for this new album, wish the tour with Torche and High on Fire was coming to Portland or even Seattle.
  16. + My mom called me to tell me she wired some money into my bank account so I can pay my phone bill and buy some groceries. - I'm an unemployed 29 year old guy who has to ask for handouts from his mom.
  17. An interesting point of view (that I can't say I disagree with) that a friend of mine posted on his blog this morning: "Conceptually, I like Bomb the Music Industry, but c’mon. I feel like Weezer, a band that panders more to money than their fans, is doing something awesome with their Blue Album/Pinkerton tour, and BTMI is taking their brand of acoustic folk rock shit (which Billy Bragg does better and with a better anarchist sneer, btw) and is pandering to the jaded sect who have their heads so far up their own asses, that they can’t even have fun. Fuck this."
  18. Portland? I was there too! My girlfriend at the time and I were planning on following them up the coast, but we didn't save enough money and were only able to do Portland before Seattle.
  19. haha yes. i love making random hashtags for internal thoughts and ideas. they tend to bring the lulz (i hope!) Between the smoking weed, talking shit, obsessive showering and hashtags, I feel like we might have been separated at birth.
  20. Pretty much all my roommate and I play is Smackdown VS. RAW 2010. He's planning on getting the new one when it comes out next month. I'm also planning on getting back into NBA 2K11 when it comes out, I haven't played a basketball game since I lost the Sonics.
  21. Oh, and my fantasy choices (dead members or would never, ever happen): Black Flag (Rollins/Ginn/Kira/Bill lineup) Led Zeppelin Ramones (original lineup) You and I Wu-Tang w/ ODB Minor Threat Void Drive Like Jehu Rocket From the Crypt Type O Negative (Actually went to multiple RFTC and TON shows and never got to see either band.)
