  1. Wouldn't go this far, but yeah, keep the records. I'm keeping them. I too wouldn't go this far but yeah, I've already admitted 5 posts up that even considering contact was fleeting and naive - I was shocked to find them and made a post. Sorry a few folks lost a few minutes of their life but there are far worse threads on this site. It's a shitty way to get a score of records but I'm not going to make anything worse.
  2. Ha ha. Yeah. I'm owed nothing but the thought of first contact in five years being about a Modest Mouse record is absurd.
  3. I just found them. No idea they were there so I admit I considered whether I had an obligation. Admittedly it was a fleeting thought. Also found an old End of the Century Party lp. Tampa's best.
  4. That looks better than I expected. Can't wait to get mine.
  5. I agree. I have no good reason to contact her. Those Man or Astro-Man records are good. I'm going to keep spinning them. All in all, a pretty damn good parting gift after a really shitting ending.
  6. ...was her copy of Modest Mouse's "It's a Long Drive..." original press. So this title might be a bit deceptive. We broke up five years ago after she was stone cold drunk and passed out the night my friend died of an OD. I was despondent as we'd known each other since grammar school. I saw our future and broke it off the next day after 6 years together. Maybe it was rash but my life got better. Sentimentality aside there was a box of stuff that I left for her to retrieve whenever and she never did. She'd picked up everything but this one box for some reason. I finally opened it and mixed in with her Edith Piaf records was this Modest Mouse gem that I've been wanting along with a couple of great Man or Astro-man LPs. We haven't spoken in five years. I'm happily married with a kid. Do I send an email after all this time to offer her the records or are they mine? Offer up your advice but I'm leaning that contact is a bad idea due to old wounds.
  7. Your postman sick of carrying record mailers too? I had to start having some shipped to my office to keep peace. Ha ha.
  8. http://www.tomwaits.com/news/article/108/Preservation_Hall_Jazz_Band_Tom_Waits_On_78_rpm_Vinyl/ Obviously limited - I tried but failed to get one of the leftovers (if there were any). How is this relevant to this thread? I suggest not making something people want to hear too limited in overall number that they never will.
  9. Anyone give this a listen yet? I spun it once then flipped it back to side A right away - awesome record in my opinion.
  10. Tom Waits just did a 78rpm record limited to a couple hundred copies. Look, when I think No Idea I think of crazy colors, reasonable prices and good music. Why change a formula that works? No Idea is not pulling things out of print until they no longer sell. The variants offer something for the collectors and the policy of keeping things in print means no one has to ever pay an arm and a leg to listen to a release. I remember when Fuel For The Hate Game first came out. The idea that there were four (?) colors was somewhat mind blowing. We gathered around the counter at the old Shaft shop and compared them all. Holstein was cool but I went for the half blue/clear. Still have it and no one is going to wrestle that one from me because that special slab of vinyl holds something significant I can identify from that moment in my life. I'd hate to think that when the next HWM, AM! or LTJ joins No Idea that you might not go all out on the first pressing and give some kid that is coming of age at that moment the same feeling. Releases are kept cheap, they are all available until it is no longer viable and the art is always appropriate without blowing the price up unnecessarily. Don't change what works, keep doing what you do and keep punk fun. ps: yes, release the Bomb as a 45rpm like The Stormy Petrel (one of my favorite No Idea releases to date).
  11. This thread should be locked. There is nothing new to add one way or another. Some self-rightous 15 year old is going to keep calling this dude a liar or loser or whatever until he says "you're right." Quit pounding on him, it isn't happening. Buy it, boycott it, whatever but get off your high horses and quit bitching about it.
  12. Just got word that these are a few days away from shipping depending on when you ordered and what color. Good News.
  13. I googled "Justin is a Nerd" and a discussion of the Wizards of Waverly Place is the first thing that pops up. You were dead on and I don't know anything about this cat.
  14. A teaser for sure. Stoked. Bummed about The Measure as well. Gonna have to go see the show in New Brunswick.
  15. HudsonComplex was a good dude to deal with. I need to come up with a long list of the solid sellers I've met recently but I've bought too much to start now.
  16. Got it just now. Tip of the hat to Sabot for a timely release/shipping.
  17. Zac, this record is awesome. It is my dream record come true - for real. Too many Sunday Matinees in the Pony and many late nights in Gainesville's Hardback and here we are in 2011 with the perfect piece of vinyl to celebrate some of the best of the era. I hope Chunksaah sells the crap out of this and has to do 15 pressings.
  18. Looks like the first press with the red splatter from Chunksaah is going to be the one to find. I traded for a tour edition a while back so passing on the 4-pack.
  19. Agreed. That Leeway "Born to Expire" lp was so under appreciated for so long. Got mine for $2 in the mid-1990s. I saw it in bins for only a few bucks for years.
  20. Been looking forward to the old man lp. Ordered. I still need the 7" on color if anyone has one to trade or sell.
  21. Awesome, I would love to see a picture. Did Taang ever release Power on vinyl? Well, its the last variant I need before I have a full Mylene Sheath collection. I mean I got the other 5 copies of Tertia but the transparent maroon has been alluding me for the past few months. I don't know but I'd trade my copy of "Break it Up" on Homestead for a copy of "Kids" ha ha. Someone once described Break it Up as the perfect punk example of jumping the shark. Fitting.
  22. I always loved the look of the "Devils Night Out" Marble. I still want a first press of SSD "The Kids Will Have Their Say" First Press to complete my SSD collection.
  23. Bought from this fellas first sale. Had an issue with one of the records I bought and he set it right by essentially refunding me double. Everything else perfect. Good stuff.
