  1. I'm lazy and not very handy I'm glad I could put your mind at ease. Does it seem like it gets more flimsy each time? Like does it rock side to side easier after being disassembled so many times? Not likely. Jeffrey Dahmer killed mostly young Asians and blacks, and that was when he was between the ages of 18 and 31. Like a lot of serial killers, he was a white guy who maintained otherwise normal outward appearances. Serial killers are very rarely minorities or women, and usually have stable middle class backgrounds. You're making a lot of assumptions there. He was white (though he did tell me he was one of the only whites at the center) and what makes you so sure I'm not black or asian? In any event, I change my murderer choice to Richard Ramirez.
  2. Sure, people work for money in my country, how do they earn it in yours? His requested rate was $12 per hour and I reckon he had to give a percentage of that to the center who brokered the work for him (and is volunteer run.) He finished quickly and did an excellent job, I gave him $60 and he seemed pretty stoked. The deal was that I would deliver him back to the center upon completion but on the way back he asked if I could drop him off at the nearby laundromat. The laundromat was suspiciously close to the liquor store but who am I to question how somebody spends the money they earned for building me a shelf for my thousands of dollars worth of bullshit.
  3. Oh he was missing a finger and had a limp too, swear to god. Fuck I wish I'd have taken a picture with him and the shelf when he finished, didn't think of it
  4. I was coming in here to comment on how funny Jon's post was. I actually laughed out loud when I read it. I guess it is kind of funny in retrospect but at the time I wasn't sure if he was some jeffrey dahmer who was going to eat my heart out at the expense of my new expedit
  5. He looked like a hobo, no lie. He had two old bags of shit he was carrying around and a home-made walking stick. There's this cool center down the street from my new place that helps people coordinate day jobs and they have volunteers who help with things like english classes or whatever skills they can share. It's not like I picked up a random dude off a street corner with a hand-out sign (though not terribly far off I guess.)
  6. Heh I'm in the middle of moving and did that all last night, to prep for the friends I had scheduled to help me today.
  7. So after staring at 4 boxes of expedit in my livingroom for about a month I found out there's a dayworker place down the street that rents out hobos for $12 an hour. Turns out it only takes one hobo to put one of these things togetehr and he did a killer job in 90 minutes. I'm sure it would have taken me about a week and been all fucked up at the end, money well spent.
  8. it's a shame records aren't more compact.. at least I can still get to the bathroom
  9. I've played the BS lp three times so far and have enjoyed it each time. Perhaps not their best but still better than a lot of other junk in my recents piles. I like hearing them do acoustic and thought the off the cuff nature was kinda fun. Liked this better than the recent 10" Haven't heard the live Off EP yet but I'm sure it will rule.
  10. In the late 80s I was hurting for food and/or rent money at one point and sold both minor threat EPs (along with some other garbage I didn't care about) to some dude at a discount rate because I just needed the money. I didn't even like this guy so it made it that much worse and I regretted it for years until I managed to trade him some shitty bootleg Bad Religion CDs for them back in the mid/late 90s and feel ok again
  11. Yeah this dude has been around for a long time. He started out with photocopy lists he'd snail mail upon request and would sell home-made cassette tapes of otherwise rare shit (which pre-internet and mp3 wasn't so easy to find all the time.) Interesting stuff at usually reasonable rates and fairly quick shipping. The few minor issues I've had over the years he's made right to satisfaction.. no complaints here. I get the impression he really cares about what he does and likes to put stuff out he'd want to buy himself, even if it might not be a quick/big seller.
  12. I've only tried playing a couple of them and they sounded the same to me but there was a fairly significant skipping issue with mine, not sure if that's just me though. I boxed it all back up and put it on a shelf where I can see it and pretend they all play perfectly.
  13. finally got around to playing this and some other new stuff last night. Great songs just like the the box set, really love this band
  14. The effort and care they put into their packaging is fantastic! That Modern Action LP was my favorite punk rock record last year too. Check out the German P.Trash records too.. that guy and his wife run it and they're awesome.. they put together some really great packaging as well and I think he said he'll be doing the euro version of that MA album pretty soon. http://www.ptrashrecords.com/
  15. mid-80s release with a few OK bands and a bunch of mediocre to crappy mystic bands doing cover songs, some released elsewhere some not. The only other track I can recall off the top of my head was the (not so great) RKL version of Chinese Rocks, which I don't believe was ever released elsewhere.
  16. appreciate all the tips, thanks a lot.
  17. Yah this is the kind of nonsense I was worried about. I have one of their desks that was a bitch to put together and I've kinda been dreading this thing Thanks for the tips tho, appreciate it!
  18. having a 5x5 delivered next week and figured you dudes might be able to tell me how much time I'll need to plan on burning putting it together and whether I can get by doing it by myself or if I really need two people to do it. Not usually too great at putting Ikea shit together so any extra clues will be appreciated.
  19. Is it me or is the Fortune Cookie song 'Dreaming' by Blondie?
  20. link works if you take the period off the end and it looks like it is the numbered 2x180g version with the extra stuff. They had a few of these in my local store last time I was there and it looked like a cool package but I just couldn't part with that much money for it. Good band though, good records
  21. listened to this again yesterday, stoked to have those demos that cropped up a couple years ago on wax (else I prolly wouldn't have bothered with it.) A little pricey but if you don't already have it then worth
