im going to see them sunday night, i can't wait

they're warped. the band found a box or two of the red lps, and those 7" in the back of their storage locker last year before throwdown. they sold all of them at the shows, only to find out that most of them are warped... which is why theres a ton of them available cheap now.

ive had many discussions with multiple plants and guys who cut lacquers... right now its almost impossible to open up a volume pressing plant.. the machinery doesn't exist. Places like united, and oddly enough the church of scientology have purchased almost every available piece on the market. furthermore the few people who are skilled to service the machines are more or less protecting the clients that stood by them for the lean decades, and now those stalwarts are cashing in. The few pieces that are out there, are mainly hand presses.. and even those are going for 10k.. and from what ive heard, depending on your level of knowledge will cost anywhere from 10-75k to get them up and running correctly, and outfitted with everything additional you need to press.
this all sounds pretty on point to me, as my family owned one of the last mass photo printing plants in the country until digital completely killed the market... and we had to fly in a guy who was like 70 was who the only person left who knew how to service the room sized machinery we ran. Its all ancient technology, and for the most part theres not much incentive to actually build more because it is a bubble.. at some point the "hipness" of vinyl is going to subside and it'll fall back to the hardcore collector types again.. i mean look at this board as an example.. theres not as many lunatics buying 10 colors of every record that comes out anymore

not only is this mislisted as a first pressing, its like $300+ high for what a first press actually goes for.

not to disuade you, but major label licensing, (Especially Universal) is not cheap. You'd be up against a minimum of a 1000 units (if the title is available.. which pickens are getting a lil slim as of late) and you're looking at a per unit cost of roughly $10/ a pop not including packaging or shipping. Also.. for most titles you're on your own sourcing art for them, which means you'll need a designer who's good enough to pop a 5" piece of art up to 12" without it looking like hell. Over all.. you're probably up against an $11-$13 a unit cost which is a pretty sizable investment to make.

after a handful of emails i finally got shipping confirmation from these guys.. they literally said "we've been shipping these out over the last 2 months"....

i pretty much know the "market rate" for the bands i actively collect, simply from perusing ebay looking for stuff i don't have, and chatter here.
-
i just got a record returned that had the worst seem splits ive ever seen.. someone must have literally thrown this record for it to break entirely through on all three sides.

i think the original version is actually a good deal more rare, the album didn't really take off till the middle was released as a single which was post 911
-
and thats the BS kneejerk reaction to 9/11 aftermath version without the title on the cover

Bump. Someone please sell me a reasons 7". Please.
the last one on ebay went for insanely stupid money.
-
the "double label" think happens alot.... just slice one of the bubbles and peel the second one off... we had at least a dozen of these happen with the suicide machine records we did.. they come right off generally

im gonna swing down to the post office about this.. we dropped off about 150 orders a few days ago, and it seems a good deal of them didnt get scanned in as received.

Unfortunately they did not even though the tracking said May 8th. I got a call from fed ex at 8am today saying that since it is 3 pallets of records (over 1500lbs) and being delivered to a residential address that they need to scedule a delivery in order to make sure someone will be around when they arrive. That being said, the earliest they could scedule was monday morning so it looks like these will be going on sale tuesday or wednesday now depending what time they show up. Sorry about the tease yesterday, totally out of my hands and im not happy about it either. I will keep everyone here in the loop and post pics once I have more info .... Have a Great Weekend everyone!
well as least i can share the pain of having pallets of records being delivered to a residential address with someone else here... ugh its the worst... ive had three trucks get stuck on my super hilly, dead end road already
