  1. ive had many discussions with multiple plants and guys who cut lacquers... right now its almost impossible to open up a volume pressing plant.. the machinery doesn't exist. Places like united, and oddly enough the church of scientology have purchased almost every available piece on the market. furthermore the few people who are skilled to service the machines are more or less protecting the clients that stood by them for the lean decades, and now those stalwarts are cashing in. The few pieces that are out there, are mainly hand presses.. and even those are going for 10k.. and from what ive heard, depending on your level of knowledge will cost anywhere from 10-75k to get them up and running correctly, and outfitted with everything additional you need to press.

this all sounds pretty on point to me, as my family owned one of the last mass photo printing plants in the country until digital completely killed the market... and we had to fly in a guy who was like 70 was who the only person left who knew how to service the room sized machinery we ran. Its all ancient technology, and for the most part theres not much incentive to actually build more because it is a bubble.. at some point the "hipness" of vinyl is going to subside and it'll fall back to the hardcore collector types again.. i mean look at this board as an example.. theres not as many lunatics buying 10 colors of every record that comes out anymore

  2. not to disuade you, but major label licensing, (Especially Universal) is not cheap. You'd be up against a minimum of a 1000 units (if the title is available.. which pickens are getting a lil slim as of late) and you're looking at a per unit cost of roughly $10/ a pop not including packaging or shipping. Also.. for most titles you're on your own sourcing art for them, which means you'll need a designer who's good enough to pop a 5" piece of art up to 12" without it looking like hell.  Over all.. you're probably up against an $11-$13 a unit cost which is a pretty sizable investment to make.

  3.  Unfortunately they did not even though the tracking said May 8th.   I got a call from fed ex at 8am today saying that since it is 3 pallets of records (over 1500lbs) and being delivered to a residential address that they need to scedule a delivery in order to make sure someone will be around when they arrive.  That being said, the earliest they could scedule was monday morning so it looks like these will be going on sale tuesday or wednesday now depending what time they show up.  Sorry about the tease yesterday, totally out of my hands and im not happy about it either.  I will keep everyone here in the loop and post pics once I have more info .... Have a Great Weekend everyone!

well as least i can share the pain of having pallets of records being delivered to a residential address with someone else here... ugh its the worst... ive had three trucks get stuck on my super hilly, dead end road already
