just scored an insane deal on a monster power 7000 power conditioner.

for $35 i was kind of expecting how epitaph shipped the bad religion & fat shipped the nofx sets... in oversized boxes with pre-fab foam corner inserts, that were pre-packed from the mfr... the sets were just wrapped in bubble wrap and set in a really low quality cardboard box and sent priority (which was probably 10 bucks for the weight)

in defense of SRC on the retail of licensed albums in my experience so far anything Universal owned, is insanely expensive to license and release. as far as greed goes... they're making less a copy on this than any a normal label releasing a similar config and charging $15 a pop on a non licensed title.. so take that for what it's worth, these projects aren't cheap to do, in most cases the art files don't exist.. and if they do.. they usually need a ton of tweaking.. you need to pay to get it re-mastered, and lacquers made, order all of the packaging, the HUGE licensing fee, all the mechanicals up front, and a hefty shipping bill. It sucks that these projects run so pricey but they really are a ton of work.... a ton of people have approached me on how to do this.. and when I gave them a run down of the costs ... they said fuck it.

obviously the whole thing is a first world problems scenario... but their technically could be legal ramifications if some nutob is pissed that he spent 12 hours outside, or forked over $500 on ebay.. they'd have a pretty clear cut false advertising claim (probably have one already seeing as the 900 number was understated already).. so its an interesting situation from a legal standpoint

i definitely wouldnt have gotten up early to stand in line .... this is also against the t+cs of the deal with RSD.. so i wonder if cake gets blacklisted because of it

theres a glitch on some of the cell phone apps... i started listing some records using my cell (because i can just shoot the pic, and immediately pop it in, and not have to move it to the laptop first) and it defaults to priority for like 8-9 bucks despite being in the "record" category... and then when you do move it to media mail.. it drops the shipping to like $2.75 (which doesn't begin to cover shipping + mailer/inserts

the rookie lot 7" kills me.. I know sooo many people who bought one because they were friends with the band, and they all lost them over the years

i kinda feel bad for Cake... PR nightmare 1 - every store gouging on them putting together the cheapest boxset ever. #2 - eveyrone double to tripling their money on it on ebay #3 setting aside a bunch for their fanclub newsletter only to have the link leaked to the jackasses here who ransacked the store like new englanders before a nor'easter. Someone's getting a nasty lettter from the management lol

they're extremely mainstream.. when they play CT they headline venues that hold like 3k+, they still have multiple singles on modern rock radio after 20 years.. they're a pretty huge band

a copy of Frank Turner's "reasons not to be an idiot" went for $504 this weekend. lol

is this the RSD 12" if so my friend has an extra, because i grabbed her one, and she managed to get one as well
