  1. i counted up the entries and had a coworker pick a random number... and the winner is.... C-Dub. you can paypal to [email protected] and i will ship it out tomorrow for ya.
  2. mailing 10" if you dont have a 10" mailer... put it in a standard lp mailer between two 13x13 cardboard pieces.. and tape those together so it can't move around in there.
  3. was that marantz your dad's jacob? i really miss my super ghetto setup i had in college. 1000 watt radio shack car amp run through a dc inverter, a 400 disc sony changer, a mid 80's akai turntable, and a pair of giant totally frankensteined speakers i cobbled together from random pieces i scored cabinenets, and woofers from random tag sales and junk day pickups.. it was loud as all hell
  4. I managed to get 3 copies last night, but one of my merch girls claimed one... so after mine i have an extra up for grabs. a bunch of people messaged me about it.. so i guess the only fair way will be random.. put your name here if you're interested and when i get home tonite i'll draw a name for it? (according to the merch girl they're out of the tour press 7" color) terms and conditions 1. i'm asking cost + shipping so it'll be $20 2. please send as a gift through paypal 3. i will package it in a mailer with 2 pieces of extra cardboard.. if the usps mangles it.. totally not my problem because i won't have a replacement for you. if you can accept those its all good!
  5. i was gonna say the only thing that makes me madder than corner dings is scuffs that don't affect how the records sound.. NO wait i wasn't going to say that, because i go outside, talk to girls and have a fucking life. jesus christ people crawl out of your cave once in awhile and remove the stick from your ass. i remember when this forum was actually fun and not full of trolls and entitled dipshits.
  6. lets just say a couple of our reissues definitely ran into 5 figure territory when all was said and done.
  7. We're really stoked to have released the first US release for UK ska/reggae/dub/hip hop act The Skints. check 'em out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBqHKLKgCyk&list=PL5F6F83FA3F7FF8DF we released the single as the bonus item for our last kickstarter, and we have a handful of copies left up in the store.. The Skints sold out of all the copies we sent them in literally 4 hours. www.asbestosrecords.bigcartel.com
  8. does spending an obscene amount of money to get a record pressed so you can own a copy of it count?
  9. i'm going tomorrow, i have to pick up a copy for a friend, but if i can get a friend to snag an extra or two i'll report back here and let ya know.
  10. also.. guys IKEA furniture is not made to ever be disassembled once its been put together.. onces its together.. keep it that way or plan on throwing it out
  11. Flaming Lips / Tame Impala - split Flaming Lips - peace sword Flaming lips - first ep (signed reissue) Flaming lips - 2nd demo (signed reissue) Smith Street Band - all 3 asian man releases Burial - new ep Primus - seas of cheese Primus - Pork soda Primus - tales from the punch bowl
  12. i just need to track down the stone roses cover ep for a reasonable price and i'll be happy
  13. mine were $25 for the LP and $12 for the 7"... kinda rough especially since they didnt have a real jacket or even center labels
  14. i feel you on the woofers exploding... i had a pair of Optimus Lx5s which i bought in high school when i worked at radio shack.. things sounded damn good for years.... and im guessings the rubber just dried out over the years.. put on massive attack mezzanine a little too loud.. and all of a sudden everything sounded like shit ... riped both woofers right out of the damn things
  15. if theres a church bulletin that does ads, or a bulletin board.. post a notice that you're looking for record players... i know my grandparents all had sweet console based systems that i loved playing growing up.. you might be able to score something free for the cost of getting it out of their garage/basement.
  16. if budget is an issue.. spend a little time combing goodwills or other thrift stores for vintage turntables & receivers.. you'll get way more for your money than the new entry level turntables currently on the market. you basically need a table, an amp, if the amp is newer you'll most likely need a phono pre amp and a set of speakers. hunt around at thrift shops/pawn shops/craigslist and you can probably find some cool stuff really cheap... and then maybe drop a little cash to get a new needle
  17. my local shop posted on twitter on xmas eve, i hauled ass over there to get the last 7" and the 2nd to last LP.. they got 5 of each, and judging from what you guys were posting the other stores were charging they were super cheap.
  18. they might be giants - 2 song flexi 7" demo or alkaline trio - sundials but i'll always hold the BTMI/RJRRM - presidents day split 7" very special as it was my first vinyl release
  19. the band gave me a copy of the demo (altho i think it might be the special hello music version) a few years ago.. unfortunatley im not looking to get rid of it.
  20. my current ones are Against Me! - acoustic (diarreah swirl) Against Me! - crime (die cut cover) Against Me! - new have (black) and i'd love one of those nine inch nails broken/fixed bootlegs
  21. there really isnt much point in that. despite the sudden "trendyness" of vinyl; again.. its probably not sustainable, nor is vinyl overly profitable. While sales are up something astronimical percentage wise.. it makes no sense for any large company to make large capital expenditures into it.. because outside of handful of titles that are moving a 10-50k copies... even major releases are doing under 5k ... which is why you see formerly platinum records being licensed out to labels like mine... its way more profitable for them to do so.
  22. someone needs to do the video spouting off on how the A-side of this record pretty much calls out every other band on saddle creek/that entire scene for faking the flava on the whole emotional white boy indie rock scene. that being said... such a great album.
  23. it has nothing to do with rushed pressings.. the turnaround is probably actually causing tons of quality glitches because theres so much work being forced through... when we did the suicide machines records with URP we had to go through by hand and remove at least 75 copies that were double labeled, a handful that had the same label on both sides, and a weird batch that had half a label on one side. taking forever doesn't neccesarily mean more care is being undertaken
  24. ok you don't need to send them lacquers, get plates made, wait for tests, get mailed tests, approve tests.. you just call up and say i need X more and your order goes right into the order queue... trust me its a whole lot shorter.
