  1. if anyone is still interested, I have the eStore back up and working now over at www.alaskarecords.net with all of our still in print releases and etc etc. thanks to everyone who has helped me out! http://www.alaskarecords.net - Zac
  2. Benard just got an invite, which means I'm doing two sets (Mose and Benard). Now hopefully Die Benny will get an invite and I can pull a three set weekend ala Dan Yemin at Fest 5 Except Yemin is a lot more awesome than me....
  3. fuck that, thread of the century
  4. The Fest has a large number of rooms reserved for the weekend at a reduced rate, which is why nothing comes up when you search. They reserved it as soon as Fest 6 ended. i'm blown away the Holiday Inn is allowing Festers to stay there..I mean after the pool party...USA chants at 4am, and, I dont know, the general carnage that was there. I remember walking through their on Sunday and it was a wreck.
  5. I use Airtran and can usually get a one-way flight for under $100. Just gotta look out for their web specials or whatever. Richmond to ATL was $99 with taxes, Baltimore to ATL was about the same, and my tickets to and from Philly are around $110.
  6. Benard playing the I Heart You showcase????
  7. I'll be there with Mose G! and hopefully my two bands will be playing as well. This will be my 4th Fest (2, 5, 6 and now 7), super stoked.
  8. Whats kind of funny (in a funny pathetic way) is that something similar happened to me about a year ago. i was pressing a 7" for this band called Histories, and paid the $350 non-refundable deposit from Musicol, and we got the test presses the day before I went on tour, so I left them with the band and told them to make sure everything was cool, and when I got back we would finish it out. Gone for 10 days, when I got home, they had broken up. Played one last show. So basically I paid $350 for 5 test pressings. They said they were going to pay me back....ha
  9. hey man, for the Wrister record, just use the www.alaskarecords.net/newsite/store.html...i am in the process of getting everything switched over to the Big Cartel store, but havent got everything on there yet. But the price of the CD through that storefront includes shipping. Thanks
  10. It doesnt really have a release date because everything got stalled so many times and it took so long to get it all together...it was available at the end of April though, and the pressing was as follows: 20 Red with heavy black smoke 130 on clear red (some with very light black smoke) 350 on Black.
  11. holy fuck, i am so stoked. When Batman Begins came out, I went to a midnight showing when i had a geometry test at 7am the next day...saw the movie, went to class, failed the test, and then went straight to the movies and saw Batman Begins again. This year, I've graduated college and dont have shit to do, and I have a friend whose best friend manages a movie theater, so when he gets the print, me and those dudes and a couple other people are going to have a private screening. Goddamn I cant want. One month! Between this and the tattoo, no wonder I am single....
  12. So, I have been running this really small label called Alaska Records for a little over two years. But I have officially decided to throw in the fucking towel There is this band from around here called the Felon Wind that has had a killer record recorded for a while and have just been sitting on it. After talking to them for a while, I asked them if I could press the CD, under the pretext that they were going to be touring all summer. So, we get the wheels moving, but then their tour falls through, but, then they said they are rescheduling for the fall. We had the release show on June 3rd, exactly two weeks later, they fucking break up. So after the about 50 we sold at the show, I am left with 950 CDs and huge fucking hole in my wallet. What sucks even more is that because they wanted to get it out as soon as possible, I fronted half of the cash from my own personal savings, as opposed to using the money from the label (I was pressing the Benard/Worn in Red 7” and haven’t made all of that back yet). So, not only did I bust my ass on my label, but I pretty much busted my ass personally. So, I am officially out of the record business. The only way I will be involved again is pressing LP versions of albums already on CD. It just really sucks that my last release is such a shitty one. I guess if you want to check out some of our stuff, you can hear some MP3s on our myspace (http://www.myspace.com/alaskarecordsatl) and on all the bands myspace (they are all in our Top 8). I guess if you hear something you like and would like to pick something up and help me out a little, our store is: http://www.alaskarecords.net Music sucks. Seriously looks like I just went to my toilette and took all that cash and flushed it down the toilette
  13. this actually happened at 141 Moreland in Atlanta. I was there, and it was fucking insane. Also, it wasnt just "some girl"...it was "some crack whore." Seriously. Unless this has happened more than once... The last time I saw him in ATL, he took a shit on a towel, wrapped it up, and then tossed it at someone.
  14. yeah, I've know Kyle since back in the TreePhort days...ive actually known him since i was like, 14 or some shit, but yeah, he is without question the weirdest guy I know whats really funny is when he is not "the emotron" he is a total sweet dude. One of the nicet people I've ever met. Totally fucking weird, but sweet dude none the less
  15. Mose Giganticus is confirmed for the Fest as well, which is awesome, because I am playing guitar for them on that tour. I get to see the Emotron like 51 times on that tour. I'm glad I dont have a vomit phobia.
  16. I play an 8x10. Its not so much how loud it is but its sound. If I run my bass and my head through any other cab, it will not sound like it does when i run it through my 8x10. My tone is real important to me, so I have to have an 8x10.
  17. This is my puppy Grayson. I got her from the Atlanta Humane Society on my 23rd birthday, because my Old English Bulldog died in February from a sudden heart attack that we could have never predicted, but he was my parents birthday present for when I turned 19. She is a flat coated retriever mix, i think she has some greyhound and Australian Shepherd in her as well Her name is Grayson because my parents have an English Bulldog puppy that we named Bruce, because I am a huge Batman nut (so his full name is Bruce Wayne Hobbs), and my dad calls him Batman. So when I got Gracie, I named her Grayson because Batmans sidekick Robin's real name is Dick Grayson. I'm fucking lame. her full name is actually Grayson Kelly, because I think puns are neat Anyway, here is Bruce, he is so lazy that he falls asleep by just sitting up: I also have two kittens, below are pictures of them when they were tiny (like, the day i brought them home back in February). Thriller Yeheskel aaaaaaaaaaaand Batman and Robin back on April 3rd Sorry, I'm really really into pets. All the pictures were taken with my iPhone, which is why they are kinda eh quality edit: Sorry I am also really bad at this message board shit, pictures should be fixed now....
  18. awesome! thanks so much! Yeah, I've known the Worn in Red dudes for a couple years, they played one of our first ever shows in ATL. Great guys. I'll ship your order out on monday!
  19. are you friends with fox trotsky? yeah, my band went on tour with them last year. And I live with their drummer, Gus, and play in a new band with him and Mason. Good dudes
  20. haha, that was, without question, one of the most insane fucking things I have ever been a part of. There is nothing like trying to tune and getting a beer can straight to the face via the overhead fan. Good fucking times.
  21. Being on tour is fun AND exciting. Yes that is a baby blue Mark Hoppus bass...it sounds incredible....blah blah blah fuck off
  22. i saw the thing they did with The Hills and now have no interest in hearing this record. And it actually has nothing to do with the fact that they were on the hills, it was more because that song is the worst song ive ever heard Alk3 make and cant imagine the rest of the record be any better. sigh.
  23. yeah, one thing thats weird about our scene in Atlanta is that there is never any local shows. Local bands only play house shows when there are touring bands coming through to get a good draw for the touring bands. I suppose thats because we dont have any decent DIY venue and just two killer houses. But like i said, maybe its a good thing? Because I know in some places, since their are less bands coming through, and less not so awesome bands coming through, when the awesome bands come through, the shows are fucking killer, because apathetic kids are burnt out on having shows three times a week. Not to say only a certain amount of bands have the right to tour...i totally respect any band that knows how much it sucks to hit the road right now...but there are a handfull of bands that just bum me out when I meet them on tour. I dunno
  24. I'm wondering what all of this will do to DIY touring? I know our van (a 15 Passenger Dodge Ram Van) gets no more than 10 miles per gallon. We dont do much extensive touring right now, but when I was riding with some buddies from Brooklyn who were touring in the exact same kind of van they were having to put 100 dollars in their tank every stop, and sometimes it wouldnt even fill it up all the way. Basically every dollar they made from the house show or venue show and every dollar of merch just got dumped into their gas tank. Which is fine, because they stayed a float, but what about when the national gas average is $4.25? Shits going to get crazy. I was talking to my buddy Matt in Tampa (he books Transitions down there) and we were thinking that the DIY touring circuit is about to drastically change. Which i might be for the better, because their are so many bands touring that I think it being such a financial strain, that a lot of the bullshit bands out there are going to cancel, and all that will be left are the bands that need to be touring and that have something to offer, etc etc. I dont even live in either of the houses that do shows in ATL, but I get at least an e-mail every other day from some random band looking for a show. It's overwhelming. I dont know, I just think very soon DIY touring is going to be drastically different. I dont know, just something I think about. - Z
