  1. Tonight was awesome as expected. The Devil's Orchard I Feel the Dark Face of Melinda Porcelain Heart Pyre The Throat of Winter Patterns in the Ivy II Closure Slither A Fair Judgement Hex Omega Folklore
  2. Why would I recommend them something else on vinyl if they aren't going to listen to it? /prorant Not sure if being sarcastic or actually missed my point. Either way: I give up.
  3. I'd love to see The Lines in My Hand - that song rocks. To those wondering "why?" about the current album/setlist, this new interview should take care of it: http://www.guitarworld.com/interview-opeths-mikael-akerfeldt-talks-about-bands-new-album-heritage
  4. Fight fire with fire: buy up some other limited stuff, flip it on the Bay, use the PayPal profit on Insurgentes. Some consider it stooping to a level, but it is what it is.
  5. Obzen, I purchased red and blue a month or two ago brand new and have yet to play them. I know little about their pressings so I'll check later tonight (ok, tomorrow AM...got an Opeth show tonight) and will get back to you if they are the droids you are looking for.
  6. I hope this merch booth takes cash only because if they let me slide my card it could be a very expensive night.
  7. I say stick around and be an ambassador for those genres here! There are plenty of us around here with interests in genres other than/beyond the majority discussed.
  8. Just understand that nearly ALL of the "bad reviews" of this album come from fans who think that every album should be just like Blackwater Park, Ghost Reveries, MAYH, Still Life, etc. There are some comments about the composition and transitions being a little awkward, which in some places is true, but overall this album is WAY better than the (very loud - thanks Internet) minority are screaming about. My perspective - as a relatively NEWER Opeth fan - and complete music addict (everything from Lady Gaga to Gojira to Gustav Holst), is that this album is superb. Crank it up on a nice pair of headphones or stereo system and you'll immediately understand that this, while not being about traditional Opeth and doing what they do, is a well-executed celebration of folk/progressive music, but still with that Opeth mood/vibe. I love, love this album. If you're able to put this on, sit back, grab a drink, dive in and listen to this for what it is, you'll think it's great. If you're unable to listen to something by Opeth that you can't really rank alongside their back catalog, you'll be very disappointed. If you ONLY listen to Opeth for growly vocals, you'll cry to your mother.
  9. FYI - I'm seeing them tomorrow night. If anyone wants me to look for something for them, let me know. I have no clue as to what their merch table will have.
  10. Maybe if I hadn't already dropped $85 on the deluxe box. Gonna pass.
  11. Mine arrived yesterday in perfect shape - it DOES smell like uncooked popcorn...weird!
  12. Couldn't find this locally today. Just tried Amazon and they're currently OOS it appears. Did the Oldies.com thing, hope that works. /4000 my ass.
  13. I'd guess you're right then. Ok, clear pre-ordered.
  14. Didn't have a chance to check until now and all gone? Anyone grab 2 blue?
  15. I agree with a little bit of all of this. For what it is, it's truly a great album. I'd just prefer it to be a little more of Opeth's sound. Don't really care about the growls, but rather the mood, guitar tone, edge, etc. I do love the album though...I think it's a great front-to-back listen and can't wait to hear it live.
  16. noobrant As new to vinyl as I am, I'm already completely over those who keep harping "records are for PLAYING not COLLECTING, poseur!" Understand something: not everyone simply buys/listens to punk rock 7" records they pick up for peanuts. Furthermore, people love the medium for different reasons. Sure we all love the warm sound, but then there are those enjoyed for the rarity, artwork, or to complete a collection in support of an artist they love. If someone wants to buy something, frame it, and only listen to the digital copy/CD, deal with it already. Every sale, no matter the reason, is demand encouraging additional supply of vinyl. Everyone should be encouraging people to buy it for any reason whatsoever, and shutting up about WHY people buy records. I'm sure the OP didn't intend for this thread to spiral into this subject, and I can only imagine the number of similar dead horses existing in threads below, but as someone relatively new to the hobby of vinyl (collecting, playing, looking at, smelling, enjoying more than CD), I felt the need to share. Next time, instead of bitching at someone because they used the word collect, look at what they collected and recommend something else on vinyl they'd enjoy too. /noobrant
  17. i'm in the same boat...i wanna strangle 16 year old me for thinking the cd's were a better purchase... Great call. Hah.
  18. i assume that's with a pre-order? i got mine at the record store today. i figure for $30 a download code inside would be a no brainer. I pre-ordered the deluxe version...not sure if anyone who pre-ordered the standard vinyl got one or not. Anyone? EDIT: oops...someone earlier in the thread suggested the deluxe was the only pre-order. I'm all confused this AM.
