  2. That sucks to hear about the Kinvaras, I absolutely love mine. I have had 3 pairs (1 retired after half and getting ready to retire another). I just went shoe crazy for the 2014 season and got 4 new pairs of shoes, none kinvaras though. I'm in the process of working in a couple pair for my long run this weekend. I don't care how cold it gets, I can't run on a treadmill. I don't mind running in the cold though, so it's no big deal. What's everyone's upcoming race schedule? My first race is on 3/27 (5k). It is the so called toughest 5k in WV. I think they may be right it has an elevation gain of 430 ft. I did it last year and didn't do to shabby, but I'm in a lot better shape this year so we will see. First half is the Rumpspringa 13.1 in Lancaster County on 4/6. I have a lot more races penciled in, but those I know for sure.

  4. This is my third year of running and I'm hoping to break the sub 20 club. I almost did it last year, my PR is 20 minutes. I'm hoping to PR in all race distances this year (5k,10, half). I plan on running my first marathon Jan. next year at the Disney World marathon.
  5. I lost my iphone last year in the snow. I went sled riding and forgot to take it out of my pocket and didn't realize it til later. I tried to find it the day after couldn't find it. I went out a week later when the snow melted and there she was. Girl still works today.

  10. yep, that is it. . Yeah, you have more than plenty of time to work your way up to that. I would look at some running plans to get an idea of where and when to start (half plans are usually 12-18 weeks long: look at Hal higdon, Jeff Galloway, etc.) Also, follow the 10% rule. (Don't increase your mileage more than 10% a week. And every 4 weeks scale back your running for your muscles to heal.
  11. I also don't run with my phone, but will join. I plan on doing the Columbus half marathon (it is in May, I believe) and the Baltimore Running Festival Half.

  13. Since most of the people posting in this thread live relativly in the same area (North East area) and seem like a few want to run a half marathon, I think we should find a half that would work for a vc meet-up race.
  14. The recommended range is 300-500 miles. There are other factors that can decrease or increase these numbers though: weight, foot strike, and terrain. If you don't feel like your shoes are giving you adequate cushioning than it is probably time get a new pair. I usually run 5-6 days a week, I have 3 pairs in rotation. Two for the easy days and the other for speed work and races. Stretching is unnecessary. Warming up your muscles before running is the best route to take. Some knee lifts and buck kicks and a short amount of jogging is really all you need. I usually my first mile as a warm up. Also, foam rollers are great after hard workouts.
