Dire Straits - Alchemy

I saw them open up for Gatsbys American Dream when that first ep came out. Man that feels like a long time ago. Such a great show though. I remember thinking Anthony was creepy as shit. He kept playing with rhis dudes hair in the front row and calling us his children.

WHEW. Had it sitting in my cart and it just let me check out. Plus I had a random $25 gift card from some holiday or something that I found the other day so it was only $17.

Getting married did it for me.
Really though, if there's an album that marked the end of variant collecting for me it has to be The Big Come Up by the Black Keys. Once they started putting out a variant every 6 months for that album I had to stop. I cut down to the white first press, the 180 gram remaster, and that negative cover image they did on clear vinyl (cause that was a cool gimmick).

Today a cool thing happened. I work at a church in Decatur, GA and I was finishing up editing some guitar overdubs for a Christmas album, but I left the hard drive with all of the tracks on it in my car. As I was walking through the lobby out to the parking lot I saw someone who greatly resembled Chris Freeman from Manchester Orchestra walking past me. I did a double take but kept walking. Later I had to go get something out of the a/v closet and into the room next door walk Andy, Robert, and Chris. So definitely Manchester Orchestra. At this point I am wondering if I have fallen asleep at my desk and am having one of those vivid dreams where you're at work and your favorite band shows up in tuxedos. Turns out they were groomsmen in a wedding. I was "that guy" and went in and introduced myself and they were very gracious and didn't make me feel like an ass for being a fanboy. Very cool dudes. So yea. Cool thing. How was your day?

Curious why you say this, our characters were all victims of an ambush--the only choice they had was to pursue and eliminate the threat. They were all doing their jobs, reacting to an extremely shitty situation that they didn't cause. It was the suspects that did all the aimless killing, aside from that nameless cop shooting the bystander by accident.
Yea in real life they would all be put on mandatory paid leave while IA investigated and probably also given some mandatory after-action therapy. When it was proven that acting on orders they responded appropriately by engaging armed attackers and had no control over those attackers firing on a crowd of bystanders, they would be reinstated without question. The only one who could face disciplinary action is the nameless, civilian shooting cop who is now dead.

Is the lead time for making a record really 4 and a half months now? This doesn't ship until the end of November.
Seems like it.. The DC Talk preorder that went live earlier this week has a release date of mid November.

Man. Today was the perfect storm. All 8 records I ordered from that crazy No Sleep sale showed up at the same time all 6 records I ordered from that crazy Daytrotter sale. Plus a copy of the new Dawes record from Amazon. And my wife pulls into the driveway from work as I'm picking all of this up off of the front porch shirtless in my gym shorts after taking the day off today. I got that wordless "we're going to talk about this later" head shake.

Definitely excited for this. Had to sell mine cause of money problems and regretted it ever since.
Definitely excited for this. Had to sell mine cause of somebody's willingness to spend so much money on it. Haven't regretted it because of the inevitable repress.

I guess the end could be Batman and Superman putting aside their differences for a large villain and then that sets up JL.
True. I guess something has to unite the league.
-
Doomsday feels like something they would wait on? Like for once the league is assembled. Maybe just me but feels like introducing doomsday right off the bat is blowing your was a little early in the game if you're setting up a franchise.

I will throw my hat in for being able to choose how items are organized. Also being able to manually edit variant details would be legit. I probably won't use it until updates like these are made, but if they are I will be all over it. The barcode scanner is flawless.

My god. I was doing ok until that shot of Han and Leia getting in their seats in the Falcon.

Man, I need to start a handwritten lyrics business

I dunno.. It's not last season, but it's entertaining. I was 2 eps behind and almost didn't bother catching up because of some of the comments on here.. After watching I'm glad I did

I'm surprised they never pressed the Thrice session. It wasn't stellar from what I recall, but maybe someone was into it.
I am 100000000% shocked that the Andy Hull/Kevin Devine sessions haven't become a split 12". And also really sad.
-
This time I only picked up 3 of the actual daytrotter sessions.. The other three I bought were the Miles Davis, Van Morrison, and Ray Charles live albums
-
I'm just being a grumpy asshole. Coming from someone who owns 10 of them though, these records are worth having if you can snag a deal on them.
-
Really the only reason I posted this is because I agree that these are outrageously priced but there are some amazing sessions on these records. Thought it might be nice for people to be able to grab them while they are over half off. Forgot that the cool kids would descend and shit on everything. Carry on.

Yes! So so so good. We were at a club called Swayze's in Marrietta, Ga. He was definitely on a ridiculous cocktail of all sorts of drugs. Gatsbys crashed at my friend's apartment that night and man did they have some stories.
