  1. Cobra is a sweet place to have right around the corner. There's a really good Mexican place right there too - Angel's Restaurant.
  2. anyone going to Bad Religion tonight? Hoping to hit up Revolution for a few drinks beforehand...
  3. yes! i forgot about the music before bed thing. I've been doing this for months, and it helps a lot.
  4. I work from home as well, and my wife travels for work from Monday to Thursday, so I kind of know what it's like, minus the shitty parts you're dealing with. I don't know if this is the kind of answer you're looking for, but here's my perspective on spending a majority of my time alone... I agree with the others who said to get a dog or cat. Cats can keep you company inside, but a dog will force you to get outside to walk it and play with it. Shower, brush your teeth, and get dressed every morning. Don't roll out of bed and work in your pajamas for days at a time. Go out for a cup of coffee or lunch every day. Find productive things to do at night like joining a club or a team. Since this is a music board, become a regular at your local music shop or venue, and find ways to meet people with common interests. I'm not saying you have to spend all your time away from home, but since you're in it minimum 8 hours a day, find reasons to get out, and you won't feel as trapped.
  5. I love my Roku. Have been cable-free for a few years. Was using an HTPC in the past, but pretty much use that as a server now, and use the Roku for all my viewing. I supplement it with these add-ons... Amazon Prime ($79/year) Full access to their streaming video library. A large number of movies and TV series are free, and others you can rent for a few bucks a pop. Spotify Premium ($10/month) $10/month, allows you to stream over Roku and download music offline to your phone or computer Plex (free): Install the media server on your PC and the channel on your Roku. Download/rip/acquire all the movies and TV shows you want on your PC, and stream them to your Roku. Does music too, but the interface is terrible. See my next point... SubsonicTV ($20 lifetime) Similar to Plex, but strictly for music. Much better interface
  6. If they still have them by Chicago next week, and I can get 2, I will
  7. the Metro just posted this on facebook. thought some people on here might be interested...
  8. nice, did they seem to have a lot? I'm hoping they have enough copies to make it to Chicago for their show on the 8th...
  9. it was called 2nd Avenue Records. They had a pretty solid reggae section, but oddly enough, I found these in the general rock/pop area.
  10. I found sealed copies of Redlight, Close My Eyes, and Peculiar in a store out in Portland this week. I'm not sure how available these are, but I was stoked to find them all in one place.
  11. http://www.fatwreck.com/news/detail/559 Strung Out, LA’s finest in speedy melodic punk mayhem, is one of the hardest working bands of the last 20 years. With a career which has so far produced 7 studio albums, numerous EP’s, a live album and a mind-boggling number of shows, they continue to be a significant staple on the indie punk scene. In celebration of their longevity and with the positive feedback from fans for both 2012’s Twisted in a Suburban Wasteland tour and the remixed songs on Top Contenders, Strung Out decided to finish the job and have Ryan Greene remix all three of their classic 90’s albums in their entirety. This summer will see the release of deluxe reissues of Another Day In Paradise, Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues and Twisted By Design! Three special records that certainly deserve some special treatment, and that’s what will be on offer with these reissues and the all-encompassingVolume One box set, which will include the 3 albums plus a DVD that drummer Jordan Burns details below: We are all pretty stoked on this box set. All 3 albums are sounding so fresh and revived. If we didn’t think you would all love it like we do, we wouldn’t be putting it out. Also the live DVD from our Twisted In A Suburban Wasteland tour last year is going to be sweet. Filmed in Montreal Canada, it will include both STWB and TBD live. I know, our first DVD ever and its looking great!
  12. a few random ones... Kid Dynamite - Fuckuturn Less Than Jake - Short on Ideas / One Last Cigarette Bad Religion - Cease Bad Religion - Skyscraper Radiohead - Street Spirit (Fade Out) Marilyn Manson - Man That You Fear Foo Fighters - Walk Guns N Roses - Coma
  13. i didn't really consider the upper level seats to be that crazy. I think they were only around $40. Plus, I've never seen them, so I'm pretty stoked.
  14. I took my wife into some stores and got an idea of what she wanted. even went so far as to let her pick out the center diamond. then i worked with the jeweler to design the final product, which she didn't see until I proposed. she loved it, it was a combined effort so I didn't have to stress as much about finding the right stone, but still got to surprise her. i definitely recommend using a local shop if possible, and don't rush into anything. a good jeweler won't pressure you and will work with you until you get exactly what you want. also, a good shop will offer free cleanings for life, which will involve checking for loose stones. and don't forget to get an appraisal and insurance.
  15. yeah no luck so far, or i don't know where to look... hence the reason i asked. i don't do this often. i figured someone else on here who already bought the vinyl might be looking for the same.
  16. I hope this is cool to ask here... if not, apologies. but does anyone have an electronic copy of this to share? I picked up the vinyl but I really need to jam to this on my android while i'm working out.
  17. I'd buy it. no shame here. the release date is 4/23, wonder if this will end up being an RSD item.
  18. I also got Skavoovie and the Epitones - Ripe , and NYSJE - Low Blow at the same as the Dr. Ring-Ding. That was a good day. I think those are the best 3 albums Moon ever released, IMO
  19. I found one of my all-time favorite ska albums on vinyl last year at a local shop - Dr. Ring-Ding's Ram Di Dance on Grover. I was pretty stoked to pick that up. I've loved pretty much everything he has put out, but didn't like the latest album Skavaganza / Piping Hot at all...
  20. speaking of covers albums, has anyone heard Madness' Dangermen Sessions? I only heard it for the first time a few months ago, but there are some great tunes on there.
  21. about a week ago, Westbound asked on facebook, what covers people would want to see them record. a covers album would be pretty sweet.
