  4. I would be down for hanging out at shows or record fairs, or even hitting up some local shops. Has anyone been to Logan Hardware? I just recently found it... buy music and play old school arcade games? Love that place! I'll be at CHIRP this year. Been going for the past few years and always come away with something good. It might also be fun to organize an early meetup outside one of the stores for RSD... The next few shows I'm trying to go to are Coheed @ Congress, Major Lazer @ Congress, and Muse @ United Center.
  5. any updates from people who ordered in the past few days? mine's still sitting in limbo (backordered). Haven't had any response yet...
  6. are there any reviews for that upgrade kit? i'd consider spending $40 to get a little more life out of my AT-LP60...
  7. I've been thinking about upgrading my entry-level setup to something nicer, and was hoping to get some good suggestions here. My current setup is an ATLP60 plugged into a soundbar. I've only been collecting vinyl for a year and didn't want to buy any new equipment until I decided if it was a hobby I would really embrace, so now I'm looking to take the next step. I have the opportunity to inherit/borrow this equipment from my father-in-law: Yamaha M-85 Power Amp Yamaha C-85 Preamp And let's say I have anywhere from $500 to $1000 to spend on new equipment in the course of the next year. I've done a fair amount of research and reading about turntables and have some ideas of what I would want to buy in that regard, but I'm pretty clueless when it comes to the other components. It's pretty obvious that speakers would be the next logical purchase. Any suggestions?
  8. this is such a fun release, and it sounds damn good. the 7in demos are cool too. anyone in Chicago looking to pick this up outside of Jump Up, Reckless has some copies in stock as of today for $13.99.
  9. Tarantino with the Wu Wear shirt FTW!
  10. does anyone know if Bruce and JBJ have performed often together over the years, or is tonight rare?
  11. yeah, i went to East. Brick Lane was a pretty cool area. outside of all the curry houses there seemed to be some hip stuff going on there. also, i posted this on another board and was told they're opening a branch in Williamsburg, NY! http://www.roughtrad...age=RT_NYC.html
  12. I visited here last month while I was on vacation... The general selection was a little too obscure and hipsterish for my tastes, although I did end up trying their "record of the month" on a whim and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I thought the concept of their store was amazing... Cafe in the front of the store with coffee, beer, snacks, and tables to sit at. Wi-Fi throughout the store. Stage in the back for in-store performances. Record of the Month subscription club... it was more than just a typical shop. It was a place I could see myself spending a fair amount of time in, if I was a local, and if they expanded their selection a bit more. Has anyone ever been there? Do any stores like this exist in the States? I think a concept like this is what modern stores should strive for to stay in business these days. Any thoughts?

  14. Not sure... They weren't out, they were behind the counter and I didn't ask. I do know all 3 stores had it in stock as of this morning, according to their website.
  15. Grabbed one for $76.99 at Reckless this morning. It's a beautiful set, and plays really well. The book is a great read. Liner notes for each song written by BC, as well as album art sketches, alternate images, etc. Billy gives some interesting insight into the recording process and band dynamics at the time. Very happy with it overall.
  16. I have the following CD's I'm looking to sell or trade for vinyl. These are all in used/good condition. I won't say they're great, but they're definitely playable. Just wondering if there's anyone out there who'll give 'em a good home. Would prefer to bundle in a group if possible, and am open to all genres for trade. No offer is unreasonable. 17. I know this is a pretty generalized question, but are there any tips to record shopping in London? Anything I should be looking for in particular that I wouldn't be able to get here? any UK pressings that are especially better than US pressings? i'm into a lot of british bands, punk, rock, ska/reggae, trip-hop, etc etc... nothing's really off limits, just looking to bring back some good finds.
  18. Tomas posted something about this on the Streetlight site. Says it's all his fault for over committing and being too much of a perfectionist. Kinda getting tired of this guy. Last time I saw his acoustic tour he forgot half the words to his own songs. Sucks I have such a nostslgic soft spot for his music or I would stop caring.
  19. just wanted to clarify for the people asking... all 3 of my copies were retail versions purchased at Reckless. All are black vinyl, and all 3 definitely came with cd's. where did you guys buy yours from?
