  1. agree that it's polarized. Though I actually think Foxes is their weakest. For me it's: Brother Sister > A->B Life > IACIAFIAD > (probably Ten Stories) > CFUTF
  2. nice, hope you get it in soon. i'll grab it and some of the older torche
  3. The file size keeps changing. It's now a 49MB file? Really starting to get annoyed. I bought the box, and have to fight to get a shitty encode?? If someone has a link for one of the higher encodes, I wouldn't feel too bad about grabbing it.
  4. has anyone actually been able to download the new (113MB) file? Mine keeps stalling.
  5. got the purple in the mail yesterday. looks and sounds awesome! thanks alex
  6. I don't really understand that. you can still have a chaotic and heavy sound, and maintain the dynamic range without losing audio information. To each their own though. So does the record sound the same as the CD in terms of the mix and dynamic range?
  7. Geoff has many times stated they're very happy with the way it came out, and preferred the production to that of WATT. This is amazing. I know they had a shitty relationship in general with Island for WATT, and I'm sure that's soured a lot of their thoughts on the recording process, but wow. I remember when the 5 songs leaked for ACBTLD. I was stoked to hear the songs, but the quality was shit. I chocked it up to be badly compressed encodes for a leak. I was amazed when I bought the album and it sounded just as bad. There is some great material on this album, but I find it really hard to listen to because of the production/mastering issues. I also don't listen to much of their recent material. Maybe a lot of that has to do with the production.
  8. Thanks for the info. To my ears, it is an obvious mastering issue, but I'm not a professional, so I'd love to hear the thoughts of others. There is evident clipping and (unintended) distortion that are almost surely the result of too much volume. I didn't take notice who produced it before you posted, but it's interesting that the wiki post mentions criticism from excessive clipping from volume during mastering.
  9. That's what I figured. And while the package looks beautiful (great work, travis!!), I've been really hesitant to spend money on this album again unless the sound is dramatically improved.
  10. I'm curious too. The CD really suffers from too much volume during the mastering. lots of unnecessary clipping and distortion. How does this vinyl compare?
  11. I agree. I like that they are slowly evolving their sound, but not straying far. For me, it's a really solid record. Sounds like classic Silversun Pickups with some shoegaze vibes.
  12. I was sort of curious about this too. Mine definitely looks to be clear orange, though I assumed this was what they were calling gold.
  13. I cringe everytime I see this thread has a new post. Really want this, but hoping its closer to Tuesday... too many records lately!!!
  14. it does. oh, and: http://vinylcollective.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=75055
  15. they posted the album early on spotify if anyone wants to check it out who hasn't already through other means: http://mewithoutyou.com/ten-stories-spotify-early-stream/
  16. meh. I don't really care for recent Alk3 efforts, and this has the same pop sound as those.
  17. This album is solid. I was a little worried when Bloody Mary came out, but the record has such a great sound and flow to it. Need to grab this.
  18. I gave Pelican a shot nearly 10 years ago based on the name only. As an ornithologist, I had to give them a try. Glad I did
  19. No plan for US distribution, which sucks. I want to grab this, but don't want to pay the overseas shipping.
  20. opposite vibe for me. I was not impressed with Bloody Mary at all, but liking the album so far.
