I actually haven't read those. I started reading LOTR but it was too slow for me too. Maybe I just need to give the stuff I do try to read more of a chance.

My dad is so hard to shop for. Everyone in my family thinks so, yet he is the only one who doesn't offer up ideas on what to get him come holiday season. Usually he just ends up with a ton of New Orleans Saints memorabilia because everyone knows he likes them a ton, but I just feel bad because it seems like no one puts a lot of thought into what to get him. I look through "gift guides for dad" on all the sites but nothing seems like he would like it. What kind of stuff do you get your dad for Christmas?

Earlier this year I read The Hunger Games Trilogy and The Millennium Trilogy and I could not put them down, but sense then I've been struggling to get hooked on anything. It takes a lot for me to get into a book and I have a ton of books that I have given up on after the first couple chapters because I just lost interest so quickly. Obviously this thread is about what books you are currently reading, but what books would you recommend that hook you from the get-go that you can't put down?

Can someone please give me some insight into the differences between these two tables? Obviously the Debut has the carbon tone arm, but what difference does this make and why? What other differences are there between the two turntables? I've heard that if I'm going to spend the money on an essential, then I might as well fork over another hundred bucks and get the carbon, but I'm looking for specifics as to why...

It was nice to come back and see how valuable some of my records are after a couple years

I moved out to LA in April of 2010 and had to make the tough decision to leave all my vinyl in storage at my parent's place. I had no idea where I would be living, who I would be living with, what size place I would be getting, or if I was going to have to share a room with anyone. I just didn't want to risk my collection getting stolen, so I had to leave it behind. Now I am all settled in to a place I've been in for a year and a half, I have stable work, and I'm ready to bring my collection back with me when I go home to visit this Christmas. I started using the boards again and I'm looking for a new turntable and I am very quickly getting addicted once again. I can't wait to get my records back and start spinning them! Now if only I hadn't missed the release of Brand New - Devil and God. I'm kicking myself for that one. Have you ever taken a break from collecting? What were your reasons? Did you miss any releases that are now OOP? What releases were you excited for and were still able to get ahold of?

My wife's birthday is at the beginning of January so I go through the same thing. She loves clothes and right now is on a "I need to revamp my entire wardrobe" kick so I got her some jeans she has been trying to buy ($100+) on black friday for half off and I think I am going to take her clothes shopping for her birthday. I would have no idea what to pick out for her on my own.

Last season the second half started mid february, so I assume it will probably start around the same time.

Anyone notice they changed the pic on their site? I haven't been following it long so I'm not sure if its a regular thing they do, but I like the green color a lot.

My wife and I got these two guys from a shelter in South LA. We got Dexter (left) about a year and a half ago, and Murphy (right) about 6 months ago. They were both completely different dogs when we got them. They had terribly long hair and were unrecognizable from what they look like now, but they are both very happy now and they've also made my wife and I very happy. Here's a couple more pics of them.

Unless I totally missed it, Tarantino's not in this movie. Also, did anyone stay after the credits? Was there anything? He directed it
