If it's the original SH-165 headshell, they sell for around the same price as you paid for the turntable. The turntable is definitely worth the repair though.

We have a different distributor in Canada but it still seems strange. Maybe the US distributor has lots of the old RPM's to sell first.

We've had the RPM 1 Carbon in Canada since the end of November and the new retail is $599.

I don't know Sumiko cartridges. I do know Pro-Ject components though and can help once I know exactly what cartridge you have.

Just got a copy from our Canadian distributor. Record 1 is purple marble, record 2 is pink marble. I was expecting black since I didn't see any mention on the hype sticker that it was colored. Will this be the standard variant for retail?

A customer came in today and told me that he was comparing the 2M Blue and Quintet Red. He said it wasn't close, the Quintet Red was much better. But he also says he prefers the Denon DL-103 which you say you don't like. I think he's using the new Pioneer PLX-1000 turntable but not sure about his phono stage. I should have mentioned before, I work for an Ortofon dealer but we only carry the 2M series.

I just got a Quintet Black, moved up from a Vivo Blue. I also own a 2M Blue, have owned a 2M Bronze and heard the other 2M cartridges. I'm awful with describing what I like in audio but I found the Vivo Blue better than the 2M Blue but not quite as detailed as the 2M Bronze. The 2M Black is fantastic but isn't close to the Quintet Black. I'm not sure how much any of this helps but if you have a 2M Blue, I think the Quintet Red may be a sideways move. I will say the Quintet was a dream to install and align.

I don't have "PO" or "Coming soon" in the title indicating they aren't new releases. I said "on sale" meaning an old item that was available previously but now discounted. These are deluxe versions of the standard releases and each one is a box set. I'm not aware of these being available anywhere for under $100 for a while. Who knew I would get shit on for trying to help people out when I had five minutes before I had to go to work.
