skumbucket
http://music.aol.com/video/falling-down-sessions/scarlett-johansson/2124745 clearly not much of a singer, but her voice suits the songs fairly well. i'll have to download the album and check it out. kirbypuckett
I listened to the album twice and I'm not sure how I feel about it.
lechevre
I don't like it. But that's just me. Just not my thing. Now a gimmies tom waits album, maybe.
counterfiction
I think the thread title should be changed to ScarJo "sings" Tom Waits live the record is just kind of boring and she really has no singing voice to speak of.
kouka
+ it's scarlett johansson + i like how her voice isn't what i expect when i hear a "celebrity" is making a record - music stand in front of her, with lyrics perhaps? - she's not playing any instrument - 2 drummers (i love bands with 2 drummers, but this seems unnecessary) minuses win. mattramone
Wow, one shitty singer covers another, and it sounds bad. Who the fuck saw that coming?
flicker
i actually liked this more than i thought. Yeah, her voice isnt 'protools'd to all hell, but she sounds genuine. Also, shes covering Tom Waits. Have you guys heard the originals? Her delivery is pretty close to Waits', and because of that, i like it. It'll get me to listen to Tom Waits songs... roadmonkey
Unless it's a video of her singing naked, I don't wanna know
skumbucket
i think i agree with flicker. my brother loves tom waits, but if i listen to his voice for more than seven minutes i want to shoot myself. this might work for me over the course of an LP. flicker
Tom Waits is like cookie monster in a fedora.

lokithelion
She takes great songs and then makes really boring and obvious covers of them. it would be one thing if the album had her own songs, but instead it comes across and a chance to look cool by covering an artist where if she fucks up she can easily chalk it up to people "not getting waitts" and not her own artistic failure. jhulud
Was she recalling the karaoke scene from "Lost In Translation" while "singing" this?
