RockPuppetz
https://qrates.com/ This site is basically like kickstarter but specifically for vinyl. With the ease that people can make a project on there comes alot of garbage, most of the stuff on here sucks. But it seems like a good way for artists to afford vinyl pressings with basically no risk. The site just launched on April 24th and so far only two projects have been funded. Neither have finished being pressed yet, but I ordered the flatsound one so I'll post here once I get it so you all can see how a final product of Qrates looks/sounds. Successful projects: flatsound - if we could just pretend Yummy / DJ Amiga - Camelia / Can't tell
atticus
This could be pretty awesome. Or a disaster. I'm leaning more toward like than do not like. RockPuppetz

brianmorgante
in theory, this could be so awesome, but I feel like it's going to end up being an absolute disaster. i'll be interested to see where this goes though! RockPuppetz
OrangeJoe
I think this is a really great idea for small artist who can't afford to press their albums but the fans would buy them, hope it does well.
dvv
so does like the company keep the pressing rights or does the artist/label keep them?
EHughes527
So, has anyone purchased anything off of this site? Very curious about the quality of the final product...
deadwax666
Figured I'd chime in here. A lot of electronic/synthwave acts are using Qrates these days and I've come across many people in groups who got records through them. I have been following it as I was intrigued myself. I haven't seen anyone complain about the quality of their records...just their mailers! They were using the cheap UK style mailers and SO MANY were arriving damaged. But now, they are smart and use the sturdy kind...they call them "buckwrap" mailers or something. There is a release on there right now that I would love to see happen, actually. https://qrates.com/artists/SofaKingVinyl/items/14054
mameeshkamowskwoz
I've funded a bunch of Vulfpeck releases on this site. I've had no issues and they are all top notch quality.

axotyl
https://qrates.com/artists/HALLEYLABS/items/14076 stumbled across this on the qrates front page...pretty cool multi-genre electronic stuff. heavy video game soundtrack vibe. i guess the person behind halley labs has a bunch of other projects and a pretty big niche following. heres the album on bandcamp (the vinyl version is slightly edited, thus the different title)http://lapfoxtrax.com/album/2yr-40-28649
deadwax666
Well this one just HAS to hit the goal....this is too good not to be on vinyl. The new album from Robots With Rayguns! For those not familiar, this is some pretty solid synthwave/synthpop stuff and the first RWR album to have a vinyl release. It is really, really good too! It's called 'Slow Jams' because it's all low tempo stuff and it's pretty good chillout music too . 200 need to be sold for it to happen, but 60 have sold in a week. It will be a 2LP mastered for vinyl from original mixes. http://qrates.com/artists/SofaKingVinyl/items/14334 EHughes527

Exciting to see they're repressing this. Hopefully we'll see others eventually. Also, I really wish qrate had a better way to follow artists and be notified of releases. mameeshkamowskwoz
I pre-ordered from Plaid Room over the weekend. Not sure if there is any benefit of going that route over Qrates though (unless you're combining orders)
