Vekolou
Hello everyone, I'm new on this forum. I'm upset about my turntable. I'm a huge fan of all kind of music and I always dreamed to have a turntable. My parents bought me a really cheap one: Audiology 60$ USB... I bought some of my favorite albums on vinyl which I played almost everyday already. I know that my turntable is really really cheap and the sound quality is not really great but I checked on internet that cheap turntable can damage your record quickly. Is it true? It was already in my plans to buy a better one but I just want to know if I need immediately to stop using that machine to not scrap my records Thank you! batnoises
if you're planning on buying a new TT anyway I recommend not using your current one. it doesn't have a counterweight so the tracking force is very high for the records- damaging them overtime and creating inner groove distortion. batnoises
you should also probably edit this thread out. people here tend to spam threads like these with cat gifs and whatever else because apparently it's cool.

vinyl addict
Yes, stop using the turntable before you do anymore damage to your LPs. Do you have a budget?
Vekolou
I'll say that 300$ is my max...
vinyl addict
How about a U-turn Orbit? I really like my Denon DP-300F also. Fully automatic and trouble free.

Fully automatic and trouble free. $300 will absolutely get you a U-Turn, with a few bells & whistles, and you'll likely be happy. I was looking at a U-Turn for a while, though I ended up going with a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon instead.

Bierbelly
If you're not far from northern VA, I have a vintage Pioneer PL 12D I would like to sell. Needs a new belt...thats about $10. From what I've read below, will also need a preamp for modern equipment. Vintage Audio Technica cartridge included. Both circa mid 1970s. Vekolou
Thanks for your offer but i'm from Québec And I looked at your suggestion, I think i'll go with the Orbit, seems to have a good quality for the price!
thebilljim
Nice thing about the Orbit is that all of the extra stuff is easily added afterwards, so you could easily buy the stock model for <$200, than slowly add in pieces as you go. Make sure you either get the built in preamp, or spring for a phono stage somewhere else though!
Sad Heart
Back the Orbit for under the $300 mark. Or you could grab a mmf 2.2 for a little under $300 with free shipping: http://www.amazon.com/Music-Hall-Driven-Turntable-Cartridge/dp/B001FUF8FQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1456358101&sr=8-1&keywords=mmf+2.
Sidney Crosley
Thanks for your offer but i'm from Québec And I looked at your suggestion, I think i'll go with the Orbit, seems to have a good quality for the price! As a Canadian I would suggest also taking a look at Canuck Audio Mart (www.canuckaudiomart.com), which is a classifieds site for audio. Lots of good deals to be had there and you can often save by the sheer fact that you won't have to pay tax or import fees that you might from ordering from the US. I built my entire system with pieces from there. Often enough there are people who are upgrading their system and letting go their previous stuff for way cheaper than list. Especially with our Canadian dollar.
himynameisdk
I'd go for the MMF 2.2. I've heard a pretty hefty set up with u-turn and I wasn't 100% impressed. I've had my 2.2 for about a year now and I absolutely love it.
