MtrCtyWx
I sold a record on eBay for $30 and shipped it via media mail using a label generated through eBay. It was marked 'delivered to front desk/reception', but the buyer address is a private residence. Buyer says they never got it and opened a claim. Am I covered since I mailed it via eBay or is PayPal gonna side with the buyer anyway?
slinch
from my experience, if the tracking specifically states "delivered", they will side with you, anything other than that, they will side with the buyer, regardless of circumstances
psus2h
You're responsible for the package until the buyer gets it. They'll say you should have used signature confirmation. However, if eBay sides with the buyer they probably will refund it themselves and not put you on the hook. eBay will take the hit, but it it becomes common then you'll be accountable. You should also open a case with USPS. Even if it doesn't solve anything for you it'll make them aware there is an issue and if it were truly misdelivered then there is a chance the postal worker will be able to correct the situation. who knows. The buyer and I initially corresponded via eBay but the claim/dispute is via PayPal. I'm not sure if the buyer skipped the eBay mediation process and just went into PayPal, but eBay is not handling the dispute. PayPal has already frozen the funds. morfiend
I've won a case like this with eBay/PayPal but lost 3-4 others. Good luck.
MtrCtyWx
I've won a case like this with eBay/PayPal but lost 3-4 others. Good luck. Is the arbitration process the same for eBay and PayPal? The buyer opened the claim via PayPal directly, but not in eBay.
MtrCtyWx
Just spoke with a PayPal representative and they closed the case in my favor because I had shipping confirmation. Process seems very hit or miss which makes me wary of selling pricey vinyl on eBay. Thems the breaks, I guess.
boops_popmarket
If it's marked as delivered, you're safe. And yes. Sometimes, eBay and PayPal will refund a buyer on your behalf if you're a long-time member in good standing.

You should be fine, unless they change rules on a whim because, PayPal.
MtrCtyWx
Buyer left negative nonspecific feedback after case was closed In my favor. eBay actually removed it after I called (it wasn't appropriate to anything that happened.). Sometimes things work out!

drds89
If it's over $750, PP requires Signature Confirmation (and you probably insure the package, too), Delivery Confirmation is not good enough - for at least a couple of years now. slinch
Man, you must really be lucky if shipping confirmation was enough for a case to be closed in your favor. I've had a guy open a case 5 days after I sent the package (from EU to US), then he received it, even left positive feedback thanking for the item and stated that he received it in the dispute messages, but never closed the case (it was a kid with no idea what he was doing). Tracking only showed package arrive into the country, but not that it was delivered. Paypal took my money and refunded the buyer. I called them, explained everything, they even checked and saw the feedback and the messages I exchanged with the buyer while I was on the phone, but said there was nothing they can do because tracking doesn't say "delivered". I called the buyer, got his mom apologizing for her son's lack of understanding how things work, then she sent me a refund.
