thomas
For years I've run the ad-aware + spybot combo, and it has always been great since I hardly ever get spyware since I watch what I do online. Since spybot is not really being developed, just updated, I was wondering if there is a new or better solution people are using? Also if anyone runs a program that catches spyware before it hits your pc, and how it is on resources and such.

kirbypuckett
Firefox 3 I uninstalled Ad-Aware about a year ago, no need to run it anymore. I also don't use Anti-Virus software. It's better to educate yourself on how to surf the web properly.

tommytumult
Some of the computer users I support manage to gum things up pretty bad sometimes. What I do first is a hijackthis scan and get rid of anything fishy(you have to be careful with this software, it lets you get rid of important stuff if you don't know what you're doing) and then I do a spybot scan. I've had cases where they get something really nasty which spybot finds but doesn't completely remove. For that, I got rid of it manually using instructions found on google. thomas
I have not had any spyware in years, but I like to have a program scan my pc once a week just incase something new comes along that is easy to get.

theambulancereview
I don't like Macs. Fair enough, they take some getting used to, I switched to a Mac last December, never had a problem with it, I don't think I'll buy another pc ever. To each his own! sonix
I thought about buying a mac once to look cool in coffee shops with college kids. Then I saw the price.. I'll be fine being uncool with my 500$ windows laptop.

(I can hear it now, "Dude, you should run analogue")
