¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I thought the last CBA prohibited the front-loading, but that must be the Kovalchuk-type of stuff, not Gaborik's deal. yes, it did, but thats not what the Kings did. CBA prohibited adding years to the end at league min. to lower the avg cap hit

kylekrische
The Gaborik deal is fantastic for LA and even more amazing for the rest of free agency. Gaborik was hot fire in the playoffs and fairly sought out as a potential UFA and only signed for 4.9MIL. Dave Bolland can shove his 5 MIL asking price up his worthless ass. Althought fuck I hope the Leafs give it to him so theyre even more fucked.
kgry
Rumor has it the Hawks have Sharp on the trading block to free up cap room. Figures we would trade our leading scorer from last year. I'd rather trade a few $2m guys then Sharp.

whoshotthefrog
I think Gaborik being injured is a bit of a misconception, since leaving Minnesota he played 85% of his possible games. It's actually 82%. He's played in 308 of a possible 376 games since leaving Minnesota. The length of the deal is what would scare me if i'm a Kings fan. He is usually good for at least 1 injury a season, and he's only played in 1 full season in his career. Injury plagued guys always concern me especially when given long term deals. However, in the short term this is a great signing, but long term i'm not so sure it'll pan out for the Kings. http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/g/gaborma01.html
IanRees
My guess is there is a thought he will probably hang em up around year 6 or 7 and there would be no retirement cap fines or anything and with the cap hit bing relatively low with no ntc with the cap going up in the next few years it's not a contract in worried about. kgry
I fully expect that to go down to maybe $9-10 million but we're still screwed. Plus Seabrook is due soon as well.
mesi
Kane and Toews are reportedly seeking $12m a year each. That's not gonna work. I absolutely cannot understand how these guys think that the Hawks could build a winning team around them if they are using up about a third of the cap space all by themselves. BWALL
Id pay Toews around 8-9 mill but no way is Kane worth that much.
kylekrische
My guess when word came out that the cap was going up was that Toews was going to be the first $12M player. It just timed out nicely for him. Ovi is making 10, Malkin is making 9 and he is sure as shit better than both those guys not to mention younger. I fucking hate the Hawks and would still take him before most players in the league. I think he'll come out with 10-11M but the Kane talks could get dicey for the team... kgry
Toews and Kane are pulling a Lebron/Wade/Bosh deal. They both have the same agent and both discussed what they are going to do regarding asking price. I'm confident Bowman will get it done and both players will get signed. Not so confident about keeping the second tier guys we have.
IanRees
Kesler to ANA for Bonino, Sbisa and their 1st (24th overall) Terrible deal for Vancouver
KennyFuckingPowers
Kyle your winnings have been set! Sorry for the delay. Also I like that trade for both sides. Ducks might have given up a bit much with the 1st rounder. But whatever, I also bought a ducks hat today. I couldn't not when I saw that beautiful old school logo on it kylekrische

KennyFuckingPowers
Hoping the trade of Dorsett means were keeping carcillo. Also hoping we sign Ribero now. Guys a notorious diver but we need a center to replace brad.

blanchardoswald
I'm ok with these deals. A lot of people don't realize how much bad drafting has deprived us of organizational depth. The 24th will be great, Bonino and Sbisa too. Getting the 50th for Garrison is sick since we're dumping 4.6 mil, and Dorsett will be good on our 4th line. Kesler wasn't giving us much for options, and he is past his prime
IanRees
ouch Maloney said this move was purely about behavioral issues and not cost-saving move. Ribeiro has been seeking help this summer, Maloney said.
