mystic84
anyone knows how many were pressed?
melikecheese
Was the marble pressing a radio promo? The green vinyl was machine numbered and there is one on eBay right no numbered 5,000 something. Not very limited...

forgeagain
I don't know why anybody even bothers to try to figure out pressing info for major label releases. You will never, ever get a clear answer because it's likely that nobody at the label knows and/or cares.

Not very limited... I'd say those are definitely radio promos. What do you mean by machine numbered? In the matrix or something? I'm not home to look at mine. And there's a blank label version? I'd like to see pics of that...
konsonant
According to this site the rainbow marbled version is rare (whatever that might mean): http://www.greendaydiscography.com/records/dookie.html
skumbucket
probably just rare in the way that most non-vinyl enthusiasts think all vinyl is rare these days...

swank
Thats pretty cool, I haven't seen the marbled version. The version I have is translucent green, and came in a plain white sleeve.
chiefwahoo
I bought both versions when they first came out. In my opinion, they were equally rare/common.

mxv
I think those marbled ones may be really well crafted bootlegs. there is a bunch of legit looking color vinyl releases of stuff like that, the cure, smiths, etc.

chiefwahoo
I know exactly what you are talking about. But that is not the case with these, they are legitimate. how do you tell? Generally speaking, because I've been collecting records my whole life. I'm not saying I've never been fooled by a bootleg but there's usually plenty of signs. Experience goes a long way. In this specific case, there's plenty of signs. It came out before or at the same time as the regular release. There wouldn't be any reason to bootleg the album at that point. Plenty of the copies went to actual radio stations, based on the people selling them back then. And if you compare it to other Reprise releases around that time, there's no signs of it being a bootleg. I don't think Reprise ever completely dropped vinyl. Basically, there's no indication that it's a bootleg whatsoever.
