christopherods
Hey guys I need some advice. I am currently building a new online store for One Day Savior in order to avoid the ridiculous shipping charges that Merchdirect applies to every order and make it a more functional and cheap way for everyone to purchase records from the label. One thing I noticed is that I have some test presses here at my place for records like Hopesfall, Embodyment, The Movielife, etc. and I was wondering, I would like to sell them via the online store but I dont want to basically have them be exteremely overpriced or cheap, so.... I want your help, what do you think the following prices should be for: The Movielife/Ex Number split 7" Test Press /8 (I have one copy extra) Hopesfall "The Satellite Years" LP Test Press /5 (I have 3 extra) Embodyment "Hold Your Breath" LP Test Press /8 (I have 2 extra) Hopesfall "No Wings To Speak Of" 10" Test Press /8 w/Handmade Jacket (I will have one extra when they are completed) I know some of you have offered me money for these in the past but the truth is that I want it to be money that goes toward the label and drives people to the website/webstore. I wont be selling them early and it will be first come/first serve. Let me know what you guys think of the idea.
jhulud
I wouldn't even know where to start figuring a price range on these... Have any of these ever shown up on eBay?
christopherods
well the hopesfall sold for around $50, which i thought was a little low just in my opinion. embodyment sold for about 30 which is fairly accurate i think movielife has sold in the past but i have no idea how much for and hopesfall's 10 is new, so no
counterfiction
I'd say that $50 is about right
scottheisel
I'd do $30 for the 7", $40 for the 10" and $50 for the LPs, regardless of what the band is.
christopherods
its hard to say, i see clear which is limited to 100 go for $45, so you think /8 would be higher. its impossible to assess fair value on records you have done. if $50 is the number that all of you think is accurate then i certainly would put it up there for $50.
jhulud
I can get behind the $50 price...
counterfiction
I come from a strange school though. I'm always interested in test presses but I can't justify spending more than $20 on a record I already own. It's strange. Those will certainly get snapped up quick though. adamlikesmusic
I'd do $30 for the 7", $40 for the 10" and $50 for the LPs, regardless of what the band is. Even if you had test presses that you know could go for well above that?
kurtz
I would base the prices on the band's popularity like No Idea does.
vinyljunkie
test presses are no good, and should be worth less than the actual record, unless you find some collector who wants every pressing. which seems to be the craze nowadays. i would just put them on ebay, and start them at at least 20 bucks, and see where they go. monk0nuggets
$50 sounds about right. That said, I really hope I can score a Satellite Years test.
monk0nuggets
Any word on when you think this will happen so I don't have to keep refreshing your site?
christopherods
chances are it wont be up until the end of the month at the earliest, most likely around the first week of march
cactusbot
I say put them on ebay and post links on your website. That way you get what they are worth and everyone has the ability to get it.
