casey
http://www.avclub.com/articles/hell-freezes-over-the-state-dvd-out-in-july,26487/ Looks like the State will finally see a DVD release of the full series in July. I figured since the Arrested D movie is in the works and This is Satire might actually come out, this was worth mentioning. Since this news isn't going to start much of a thread, let's do top 3 sketch comedy shows: 1. Kids in the Hall 2. The State 3. SNL GO! hickey
I am so stoked about this. The State was incredible. One of the guys from The State was in a movie my wife and I watched recently and she said she never saw it, so it's going to be amazing watching it with her. casey
This is real exciting. I'll get this in a heartbeat. What were the music issues? I vaguely remember them either having current musical acts doing the soundtrack to sketches or appearing on the show (although the latter might be Viva Variety, which had some of the cast members but started after the State got cancelled). circlingvultures
i refuse to believe this until i see it, plus there is no information on the official state page. The dvd has apparently been done since last year but MTV wont release it.
oakland
SCTV The SCTV DVDs are one of the best things to ever happen to me. "The Grapes of Mud"? Come on, that is one of the funniest things EVER on television. And "Gordon Lightfoot Sings Every Song Ever Written" is fucking hilarious. enjoyadrian
the issue with the music was that at the time, they would use popular music from mtv in their show. When it came to to doing the dvd, they couldnt get all the rights to the music, so they had to use generic music to cover over it. i'm pretty excited for this. im a big fan of stella/wet hot american summer and psyched to see this finally come out. i bought the first season on itunes. great stuff. forgeagain
It's not that they COULDN'T get the rights to the music, it's that they didn't want to pay for it.
