mediocore
Luckily (I guess?) it was error E 74 (general hardware error), so it's covered under the extended 3-year warranty. How long does the whole repair process usually take?

suburbanargyle
My box (well, the refurbished one they sent me at least) was back surprisingly fast, it was way less painful than I thought it would be. I wanna say the turnaround was like 10 days.
adamlikesmusic
My condolences. The turnaround is pretty good. On my last one, they sent me a brand new one instead of fixing my old one. Not bad.
monk0nuggets
Mine has died twice. First time took a month, second took two weeks.
thomas
I think MS gave up on fixing RRoD consoles, and just replace them because I've known a ton of people who sent them in and got back ones with a HDMI port. You can actually fix the e74 error yourself, but there's no point when you are still under warranty since it'd void it.

minty
Mine broke, but the way it happened wasn't covered under the warranty so I had to give it the 3 red lights on purpose before they would fix it. Wrapped it in a towel and left it on for a while did the trick. It was a pretty fast turnaround time though!

Wrapped it in a towel and left it on for a while did the trick. It was a pretty fast turnaround time though! My disc drive stopped working, and they would only fix it for $130. I left it on in a box for 8 days, no red ring. I eventually caved and bought a new Arcade machine for $200. Bleh.
leerobert
When I got the RRoD last summer the turnaround was less than two weeks, and I got a month of XBL for free as a way of apology.
bizarospeak
I got my 360 back after about 8 days. all fixed for free! and It only took a year and half to get the red rings, unlike my ps3 I got on ebay got had a disc problem and now they want $150! fucccck youuuuu sony! andrew13
i had 3 rings a month or so ago when i pulled a plug on a fight night rd 3 fight, turned the box on it's side instead and it worked fine. haven't had a problem since.
littlerobot
i heard they hook you up with stuff when they give your xbox back. i guess im lucky with mine. it used red ring a lot (being a first generation xbox) but i figured out that it does it whenever it gets kinda dusty. so i just use those compressed air cans on it. oh yea heres my gamertag if anyone wants to add me: tacosauce1

I think he's talking more that since it's used you don't get a warranty, and this current generation of consoles seem to have a lot of problems out of the box. kirbypuckett
Warranties are a joke. I don't buy them. I had the RROD on my first 360, which was a launch console. I was glad, because I got a brand new one and haven't had a problem since.

The RRoD and E74 errors are covered under Microsoft's free 3-year warranty though.

mediocore
I've been out of town for the past week, but my Xbox came back last Wednesday, so the turnaround time was around 8 days (including shipping there/back). Not bad at all.
