I am interested in hearing this album tho...

Was Warhols peel-able banana on VU & Nico pointless? Probably but it was awesome. Records are pointless, you can just buy 1s and 0s and not create waste. melikecheese
And now that I look at it, that cover artist has designed other records, The self titled Warlocks album released on Bomp! had a cover with those animal things too:
iamafreeman
the artist is Anthony Ausgang. he probably did the hook up with MGMT because Sonic Boom (aka Pete Kember from Spacemen 3/Spectrum) produced the album. he's done a few covers for Experimental Audio Research (Sonic Boom's drone/ambient side project). Ausgang's artwork is really good. check out http://www.ausgangart.com/ i'd buy this if i was into MGMT but i can't stand them.
axlrose
Scratch off cover? I can't see why anyone would compare current record collecting to comics of the 1990's. Also, I can see a good number of people buying two copies of the CD or the vinyl. One to scratch off, one to keep in untouched condition.
