suburbanargyle
I wasn't planning on going up to Austin til the 19th, so who knows what might be left, but it looks like there will be some cool stuff available: Over the past year Third Man Records have brought their pop-up retail shops to New York, Los Angeles and London – completely transforming temporary spaces into seemingly permanent locations that are not so much about commerce as they are about a collision of artistic expression, design and a personal one-of-a-kind experience for customers. Up next, Third Man Records is excited to announce their most ambitious temporary store yet, set to pop-up at the South By Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas from March 17th through March 20th. Located at Frank Restaurant on 4th and Colorado, Third Man Records at SXSW will feature exclusive Third Man vinyl only available at TMR SXSW, debut releases, screenings of The White Stripes’ film Under Great White Northern Lights, food, drinks and much more. Here are just some of the features of Third Man Records SXSW: * Limited Edition ‘Texas-Sized Vinyl TM’ releases of every Third Man Records 45 and select LPs. Only at TMR SXSW will fans be able to purchase 8” versions of all of our 45s and 13” versions of The White Stripes ‘De Stijl,’ ‘White Blood Cells’ and The Raconteurs ‘Broken Boy Soldiers’. * In addition to the individual singles on sale, they are also making available 150 limited edition hand made wooden 45 boxes containing the complete Texas Sized Vinyl set of 45s. * First chance to purchase the debut of their re-issue series, Jon Wayne ‘Texas Funeral.’ This lost American classic has long been out of print and now available again on LP and iTunes via Third Man Records. The first opportunity to buy this will be at this SXSW shop, so pick it up there on limited edition pink and black split color vinyl. * Third Man Branding Station – You bring it down and they’ll brand it with the Third Man logo. Also, friends from The Busy Beaver Button company will be on hand to brand never before available wood buttons with the Third Man Logo. * Complete Box Sets of The White Stripes ‘Under Great White Northern Lights’ as well as the stand-alone components of the box set for sale: LPs, DVDs, Blu-Ray, and CDs of The White Stripes first-ever live album. * 4 very limited Rob Jones Under Great White Northern Lights screen prints, available only at the TMR SXSW shop. An event poster by Decoder Ring will also be available. * Special screenings of The White Stripes ‘Under Great White Northern Lights film at the TMR SXSW shop at Frank. Be one of the first to see this landmark documentary and concert film, have a hot dog, drinks some drinks. * Third Man hot dogs, Third Man cocktails and Pinball! The Third Man Records SXSW shop will be open to the public from 12 – 8PM daily from Wednesday March 17th to Saturday March 20th, and you don’t need a SXSW pass to get in. On the 19th at the third man pop up shop they're gonna put out the karen elson (jack's wife) single on tri color vinyl, so you might be able to get that. One Hundred Fifty-Two
I could put a down payment of a house if I picked up a few of those boxes.
darknesscomesalive
I would eat my right arm if it meant I could make it to SXSW and pick up some of that White Stripes stuff. Jesus.
melikecheese
yeah i got my fingers crossed my brother who lives there can pick me up the White Stripes LPs they are re-releasing on 13" and the dead weather 8"... Sadly I bet at least half of them will end up on eBay. So far there have a been a shit ton of these releases that go to eBay after the pop-up stores. thadco
Very cool, I don't get into Austin until around 1 but hopefully something will be left. Anyone know of any other SXSW vinyl?
devinr
this might be a dumb question but will 13" records play on a record player? I was thinking the same thing and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't fit on my turntable
moliver8
Did anyone get any of these? I want to have a 13" record in my collection. Pics?
AlexH.
There are a few on eBay, already going for ridiculous White-Stripes-vinyl prices. It looks like the grooves are only cut 12" wide, so they should definitely play on any record player.
suburbanargyle
Hmm...that one ebay listing says that people waited 8 hours in line for the store. I was gonna try to check it out when it opened today, but I think I'll pass now.

As long as there's an inch of clearance between the platter and the tone-arm base and other mechanisms.
jason0389
Anyone know how much these records (8" individually, box set, and 13"'s) sold for at the place?
nicola
My friends are going to be playing SXSW tomorrow and I just got off the phone with them asking if they'll stop by and get me a copy of the Jon Wayne vinyl. They're going to try and find the place if they have a chance. Does anyone have any idea if there are a good number of them left? I'd rather not force my friends to go on a wild goose chase for me if it's sold out already. Also... psyched!
enjoyadrian
I waited in line the first day, got sunburned but it was worth it. Got both white stripes 13" records, the dead weather 8"s and the jack white 8". The singles were 10 and the lps were 20. The inner sleeves are branded. I'd post pics but I barely got back from Austin so I'm super tired.

I'm really excited about this one, got a burnt CD-R of this from a mate five years back and always thought it was too obscure to ever see the light of the day in terms of a reissue! melikecheese
I was so close to having a complete White Stripes vinyl collection, then 3rd Man came around....now its just impossible.
scottheisel
Didn't get a chance to make it to this store, but in related news: There's a new Dead Weather album coming in like a month! There were ads all over SXSW for it. I had no idea!
