supchillinyou
Working on a new record, debating between these three options. I'm leaning towards the triple 10" because I feel like that hasn't been widely done. Thoughts? ** by "d-side etching" I mean an etching on the last side of the 3rd LP
One Hundred Fifty-Two
Keep it simple, and keep costs down. I don't want to pay $30 for a record and options 1 and 3 will be around there.
lonesomexloveus
i seriously hate 10" records.
daniel
It depends on the record.
momentsrewound
I do love me some d-side etching. I do agree though, everything is relative to price. Could this be tdagarim? lol

jhulud
I'm all for getting creative and fancy w/ the packaging and releases but sometimes too much is too much. 3x10" is a bit overkill in my opinion...(I'm looking at you Alchemy Index). I'm for simplicty in the choices given here...2x12" gatefold...

jhulud
6x7" You'd be getting up to flip/switch the record after each and every song...damn!
stranaspank
I'm all for the fewest times I have to change/flip records, so 2x12"
daniel
Press it on a single 36" record. Etched b-side with working clock.
scotterson
2x12". I'd much rather see creative packaging than an extra record. Put the music on as few sides as will sound good, or something that makes sense. Press it on a single 36" record.Etched b-side with working clock. Why not a sundial? That will keep the kids confused! thechuckdiezel
Fuck the packaging and just make sure the sound quality on the record is actually good thats all I really care about. Cool packaging is an added bonus.

blanketbyday
3x10' Is sort of annoying for a single album, It worked for Thrice - The alchemy index because Each disc was supposed to be a separate entity. Truth = I'm not a huge fan of 10' and it seems most people around here despise them a bit.

But seriously, 12x5" with B,D,F,H,J,L,N,P,R,T,V,X side etchings and a DL code and i'm set!

xjustinxschwierx
3x anything is too much flipping to listen to a single album/release in its entirety. If it's necessary do a 2xLP, I could care less if its a gate-fold or a wide-r pocket single sleeve. printed inner sleeves suck too as they always tear in shipment unless the records are shipped in white paper sleeves and te inner sleeves are just there to be handled by the owner directly. I prefer to jam econo than pay out for a mega deluxe version of a record that usually doesn't need it in the first place.
andywax
2xLP, save the deluxe packaging for the next one
rtw88
I prefer to jam econo than pay out for a mega deluxe version of a record that usually doesn't need it in the first place. This. Aside from a few years ago when I didn't know any better, I don't think I've ever paid more than $15 for a new record. IFB Records knows how to do it right. They put a lot of care and effort into their packages, but also manage to keep costs down. $10 ppd for color vinyl with a screened jacket, 10 inserts, and a patch. No Idea manages to keep their double LPs with gatefold jackets and printed sleeves at $12 bucks. $30 records suck.
