cj
i love how the best brit rock band is actually from new york... interpol! nobody at all is doing brit rock as good as they are right now. period. (radiohead is in a category of their own!)
counterfiction
Really? I hear they put on a good live show but both of their albums are lacking. Both? They have four, plus a B-sides/rarities release. And Absolution is, if I may steal a phrase from the Brits, bloody brilliant. AMEN TO THAT. Absolution is fucking amazing. BIG thanks to Bonus for sending me that on vinyl. Beautiful. MUSE Travis Coldplay (first two records) RIDE The Smiths Badly Drawn Boy Remy Zero Snow Patrol (just the song 'Run')
scottheisel
Also, the Zutons are pretty great, too. Check them out: http://www.myspace.com/thezutons -- I recommend "Valerie" and "It's The Little Things We Do," personally.
manicdogbert
i'm into far too many british bands for my own (financial) good. check my music collection. Someone else who knows who A are? Awesome. yup. great band. shame they're on hiatus now. incidentally, nice Bif avatar.

Whatever. I know of two. Absolution being the first. I'm not in to them so I screwed up the count. I'm not concerned. Don't want this thread to turn in to a defense of likes and dislikes. I'm not a fan but I should have kept that to myself.

Guest scriptedrain
oh yeah, the clash. duh.also, does scotland count? because then i would definitely say idlewild. Come to think of it, I've seen Travis a couple times, so it must count. Which in that case, I'll add Belle and Sebastian to my 1-band list. I don't know much of their discography (always mean to go back), but I love "The Life Pursuit."

jochert
I lived in England in the late 80's to early nineties, and although I was mostly into metal there was a lot of stuff on the radio that I (secretly) loved. Indie music and the 'Madchester' sound was exploding at the time.... songs(and bands) like: The Stone Roses - i wanna be adored The Happy mondays - step on Oasis - live forever The Charlatans - the only one i know Inspiral carpets - saturn 5 James - sit down The La's - there she goes Pulp Blur Cast - walk away Shed seven The Farm Soup Dragons etc I (obviously) enjoy the "classics": Sabbath, Led Zep, Clash, Damned, Cure, Smiths And new stuff: Bloc Party, Arctic Monkeys, etc The BBC made an excellent documentary about Rock music, From a mostly British point of view, but including American stuff... http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/sevenages/ you can grab that shit on your favorite torrenttracker oh yeah, and fucking LEATHERFACE is so good.....
