kidamnesiac
I've been using Google Voice, but I haven't given out my Google phone number. Only using it for the voicemail features. Didn't know you couldn't get MMS with it. That's kind of stupid.

smailtronic
That's kind of stupid. Yeah, something that would allow you to eliminate your texting plan from your wireless provider is completely absurd;)

xfedupx
I ported my old cell number to GV because of that and it's been amazing. t=The only thing that was missing was the mms part of it, but not getting pictures through text is worth saving that 20 bucks a month. suchashorttime
google voice features are a bit premature yet... using it is a primary line requires constant use of VOIP. for instance, you wouldn't pay for wireless communication, texting, or messaging, but only data. you'd be able to use google voice to make calls using your phone's data connection, or, when you're around wireless internet, using a broadband connection. clearly cell providers don't want it, as it could cut your bill in half. this being said, i do use it for voicemail features. it's a good way of getting free visual voicemail (for verizon customers, since they charge a monthly fee for it...), and allows you to access voicemail from a computer. i think the calling features will become more feasible when someone figures out how to bypass cellular service and use google voice strictly over the data connection. rocknroll76
I use it as a hotline for my show. I set it up to go straight to voice mail and I can download the message as an mp3. It was also very useful when I needed to text back and forth with someone from craigslist and I didn't want them to have my real cell number. I was bummed I couldn't get pic texts but people can text my email from their cell and the pic text works perfect!

monsterrod
I don't get reception on my cell where I live (I recently moved here) so I've been using Google Voice as my home phone number. I gave out the google number as my home number and people send me texts and call me without a problem. I'm liking it so far; it's way cheaper (obviously) than buying a land line. Shitty Rambo
I do specifically because I hate the fuck out of checking voicemail.
