RustyShackelford
so, living in southeast texas ive always had the idea to have a separate storage case for my valuable/sentimental LPs/7inches just in case of a hurricane where we have to evacuate or some other reason where i might have to leave in a hurry. and with the recent hurricane up north this has got me thinking about it much more now. with the start of hurricane season this year, i went to office depot and bought a bunch of 13x11 corrugated boxes so i could pack up my entire collection and take it with me if i had to evacuate. but i recently realized that doing that really isnt feasible with the size of my collection and the weight it would all be. id have to take other necessary things with me. anyway, im looking for a storage case, or a flight case of sorts thats impact proof and water resistant, ive tried searching online but im not having great results, only pulling up maybe 2-4 websites that all have the same thing. does anyone have any tips or anything? im maybe looking for one to hold 50-100 LPs. probably not even anywhere near 100 but just to be safe. thanks for the help! dreamover
http://www.amazon.co...e/dp/B0009RNYQG - this is the only one with free shipping i could find. holds about 20 LP's. i have the third man and white stripes branded ones. when they're full, they're heavy as hell. i wouldn't recommend getting one that's too much bigger. http://www.amazon.co...K/ref=pd_cp_e_0 http://www.amazon.co...Q/ref=pd_cp_e_3 http://www.amazon.co.../ref=pd_cp_MI_0 drds89

dreamover
If a hurricane hits, records will be the last thing on my mind. turns out they'd be the 9th thing on my mind. 1. why is a hurricane hitting chicago? 2. what does this mean in the bigger picture? 3. where will i go? 4. cats in a cage 5. people food 6. cat food/supplies 7. loved ones 8. computer 9. important records 10. clothes 11. everything else
kannibal
If a hurricane hits, records will be the last thing on my mind. There's nothing wrong with protecting (any) valuables from natural disasters and other emergencies. So when a problem does arise one is prepared and less worried about material valuables. As long as money and effort isn't being misplaced away from, say, food and shelter and lives, then what's the problem?
RustyShackelford
regardless of if its the first or 100th thing on my mind when a hurricane hits, its still important to have some kind of plan. you know as well as i do that if a hurricane was to hit your area that you would take some of youre most important records with you. no need to be rude, its an issue that everyone on the coast could and will face at some point. hickey
I don't think I'm being rude at all. If some kind of disaster hit, I would ensure my family, my friends and myself are safe and that's really the end of it. My plan does not include records. I have insurance to cover material goods if shit happens (now, I'd have to see exactly what type of events are covered, but my records are specifically named and valued in my policy). Sorry if this is taken as rudeness, but records would not be a priority for me if disaster struck.
nyhi
he could also be talking about my coffin cart boat thing, which actually would work quite well protecting records during a natural disaster, just need a place to store that thing. RustyShackelford
of course friends, family and myself come first, i never said records were first. but, i have spent a lot of money on records and id like to make sure that the ones that mean the most to me would be safe. to me thats the same as packing up my clothes to take with me. its not like i would have to sit down and take the time to slowly pick out which ones i wanted to bring with me, thats the point of this case im wanting. they would be already collected and ready to go and it would be absolutely no different than bringing a suitcase to the car. actually, getting a suitcase would more difficult than an LP case because i would have had to pack and get it prepared, whereas the LP case would be ready to go already. worrying about your friends or loved ones, to me, isnt quite the same thing as this. dreamover
If a hurricane hits, records will be the last thing on my mind. you're more worried about pulling all your carpet out to save it? i wouldn't waste my time. it takes forever and it'll tire you out quick. also, there will be time to make tacos when you reach a safe distance from the disaster area. hickey
That's very true. But when I lived in Boston hurricanes were a rarity in the northeast too. Now look!
RustyShackelford
id like to see the hurricane that would hit austin. that thing would be gigantic. i wouldnt really want to though, that thing would level my town in the process. wesisthebastard
I have a few of the Eurolite ones from that list. They work the best IMHO. They aren't as heavy when there full and are easier to move. And 30 bucks too.,
