000000
I saw him on the Buffalo date that opened the tour. It was a pretty good set, good mix between Avery Island and Aeroplane. He only played for like an hour though. That Tall Firs band was pretty awful.

scottheisel
God Fucking Dammit...where are the fucking Ohio dates.... He literally just played in Cleveland like a week and a half ago. It was glorious. Tall Firs suuuucked, but I enjoyed the other band, the Briars Of North America.

scottheisel
I agree, that Briars band was pretty solid. I bought their CD, and it's okay, but it seems like most of what they played wasn't on it. (It came out in 2011, so I guess it would make sense that they have newer songs.) Guest
My dad lives down in San Diego so I think I will visit him around the time Jeff Mangun plays. Hit two birds with one stone. Hope he has switched up his setlist at this point though. Wish it wasn't so Aeroplane-centric...Not that there is too much wrong with that but I really love the first album/Ferris Wheel On Fire. I read somewhere that to date, that was the longest show he's played. Unbelievable. Guest
A Baby For Pree/True Love Will Find You In The End. Mmmmm. The versions of April 8th and The Fool that he plays are magical.
PC Music
I went to get tickets thinking it'd be like 30-35 dollars, but they were 100 apiece. I couldn't spring for that even though I love Jeff.
Guest
Ouch. Yeah, I wouldn't pay that either. I paid $45 for a ticket for each night when he played Oregon last and felt like I overpaid. Good for him though. I sort of sense he is getting ready to go back into retirement and is trying to get as much money as he can before. I don't blame him at all. turnstiles
I saw both dates in Chicago last year. Bought the box set. It was a wonderful couple of evenings, anyone who is going this year will definitely enjoy themselves.

Setlist: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/jeff-mangum/2012/orpheum-theatre-los-angeles-ca-43de5fd7.html He's been changing up the setlist since I saw him at the beginning of the month. I definitely remember hearing Oh Sister and My Dream Girl Don't Exist, and the guy next to me being disappointed he didn't play Song Against Sex. Here's the one from the Buffalo show: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/jeff-mangum/2013/asbury-hall-buffalo-ny-4bdbb3c6.html

scottheisel
Given the size rooms he's playing and the average ticket price I've seen, he's gotta be making *at least* $10,000 per show, maybe more (and that doesn't include merch, which I'm sure he's moving plenty of). It's kind of a bummer knowing he is pulling in that much money and couldn't even get a full band together, but regardless, I really enjoyed the show. Guest
Does he still have Scott play horns for him live or was that just because he was opening when I saw Jeff?
steventangent
He had members of Briars join him in Detroit. I thought both openers were insufferable.

jhulud
Show last time was good. Great set and Mangum sounded good. He was looking like a true recluse hermit with the long hair and scraggly beard. Odd thing was the plethora of meatheads in the crowd. Who knew that NMH appealed to jocks.
