BuzzersonKillwell
Sometimes, as a Brand Manager, you need to make a bunch of changes to feel like you're part of the process.

brianmorgante
My freelance work has been all over the place as of late, some of it driving me absolutely insane. I'm currently working on the following projects: - Logo and branding for a Barber Shop / Salon in Florida - Shirt for a group of literal dad fans rooting for their middle school daughters volleyball team in Arkansas (they refer to themselves as "The 7th Girl"...wtf) - Shirt for a motorcycle enthusiasts club in Arkansas - Shirt for a cross fit gym in Arkansas - Shirt and poster for an annual car show in North Carolina - Winter clothing designs for a hockey only based clothing company in Canada ( this guy suggests the equivalent of american eagle lifeguard shirts, but with hockey imagery and "hockey phrases".....again, wtf) - Logo and packaging design for a startup organic soap company in New York - Logo and web banners for a "blank cork drink coaster" company in New York - 6 different band winter merch designs Do any other freelancers find it difficult sometimes to switch between so many different "modes" of thinking when it comes to such drastically different clients? Team Avatar
My biggest problem with vast clients for websites is sharing the time. I work better when I focus on one thing and struggle sometimes to do a few hours here a few hours there.
BuzzersonKillwell
From a design perspective I don't struggle too much with changing aesthetic frequently, though I do have to be careful not to overuse a particular font, texture or other design asset if I am really feeling them at the moment. I do find it difficult to jump between various parts of the process. So if I'm doing interaction design and following it up with branding on another project it takes me a bit to switch gears. You also may not be charging enough and thus, not getting ample time to design If I had that slate of work above I'd probably be looking at around 4 month of design time and salary. IanRees
I've been working on some designs for a local dispensary (100% legal) that my buddy runs. as someone who doesn't smoke at all these have actually been kind of fun to do. futures
first time popping in here - I'm a full time PHP/Wordpress web developer but have done my fair share of design. I wanted to post stuff but.......... after looking, my work pretty much sucks Ooooh. One of my photo sites is based in Wordpress. If I ever screw up my coding/template I'm coming to you, haha. Wordpress confuses the shit out of me.

edgedestroys
Dunno why it's taken me so long to get into this thread but I'm hype on it! I have a tumblr I use as a portfolio that probably has... 2% of the work I've done but it's got some of my stuff in it. I do a lot of freelance illustration for people on deviantart and junk like that which isn't really design so I don't post any of it in this. http://aftrmthart.com/ I also have a thing similar to ALyricADay if any of you were following that dude's work, mock album art made from lyrics. http://typographybreakdowns.tumblr.com/

edgedestroys
I've been gathering my texture collection over the past 5 or so years so I have no idea where some of them are from but any that I didn't make either came from http://zentextures.com/ or http://lostandtaken.com/ and I've probably snagged some from http://www.bittbox.com/ as well. I've been using stuff from L&T the most lately. I make a lot of watercolor paint photoshop brushes as well. You can have the two most recent sets I've made if you wanna mess with them at all. http://www.mediafire.com/download/cz02kxzpw6yzger/edgedestroyspack6.abr http://www.mediafire.com/download/243hk8v9ns7mtlc/brushpack7.rar brianmorgante

Wordpress confuses the shit out of me. feel free!!!!! I always figured people that said they're web developers for Wordpress were just glorified bloggers. What 98% of wordpress developers do is buy a premium theme, install it, and charge 800-2000 for an easy job. that shit aint development. I build themes and plugins and customize beyond the scope of the modern 'developer' trevorxramage

FangsAnalSatan
Well, I was contacted to do a legitimate piece of design work. I mean; I've shown my digital artwork in galleries, and I've done professional design work before. But that work has always been "Oh hey, get FangsAnalSatan to do it. He's a graphic designer." Where as I was actually approached for this one. I think it's pretty cool considering I haven't finished college yet.
