partysmasher
So it has been announced that The Movielife (Vinnie Caruana backed by Set Your Goals) will play Kingston Peel on may 14 and 15. While many will be over the moon about this, i think it's balls... Granted i had the pleasure of seeing them in all their glory in 02/03 but really have no compulsion to watch the lite version on either of these dates. Think anyone would have given a fuck (admittedly they're in a different league) if Rage had returned without Tom, Brad or Tim? Or would it have seemed like a feeble attempt to breathe life into a frontman's ailing career? Really like to know what others think about this, would you go to the show? Is it a good idea or is it just shit?
felicia
really? where has it been announced? i'd be really surprised if he did this overseas as i thought he was just doing it at bamboozle.
partysmasher
it was announced this afternoon on www.punktastic.com and tickets are on sale from banquet records.
rivalcycle
i agree with you partysmasher. sure, the movielife has meant something to A LOT of people. but it's set your goals with vinnie caruana playing movielife songs. i know how bad he wants do to get out and play these songs again, but it just seems like it's a way to breathe life into a guy who's on his way out. felicia
im assuming they are paying him big bucks to come overseas for 2 days. i'm really surprised he's doing this over there. i thought after bamboozle, that'd be it.

There's no way he is gonna get much money out of this at all, the venue is awesome but absolutely tiny and in no way a major one, it's not even in central London... actually it's pretty out the way and the official capacity is about 180... leerobert
Not interested. Nice one, just rope in another band because your old bandmates didn't wanna reform. It might be good, but not for me.
kevbaptist
if this was the full movielife i would be on a train and down there for 2 days in a shot as its not i will probably stay at home and eat some cake is there any recordings or anything from the set at bamboozle? magalvsr13
the set at bamboozle left was amazing, its a great idea - go to the show no questions im assuming set your goals is still his backing band since theyre playing give it a name right before and will be touring with IATA directly afterward
lokithelion
I think it's a cool chance to relive a band a lot of kids didn't get to see. IATA is still performing and the demos for the new album are fucking killer. This seems to be something more for fun than anything else. Now if there is a full "Vinnielife" tour of the US I'll see it as a cash grab.
ronniethebear
Trivial "reunion". Why don't bands that actually matter do reunions?

(Nashville, Atlanta, Birmingham, Memphis, Knoxville etc) I would be fucking stoked.

partysmasher
you have a point i guess but i think this show will mean more to people who have already seen them/got their records while they were still together. Good opportunity to those who were too young at the time to see them play, but for me, really not interested.
mcm1610
I was so bummed when they broke up, because about a month earlier they came through Buffalo. I couldn't make it, and went "eh, they'll be back through." Next thing I heard is that no, they wouldn't be back through because it was over. letskissthesky
i'd see this if it came to my town, but it's no big deal. i've already seen them before.

timwt
I'm seeing them at Bamboozle in two weeks and couldn't be more excited. Vinnie is certainly not on his way out either. IATA's new songs are awesome and when they finally record they'll be getting the recognition they deserve.
