I find my copy to sound just as good as some of my better sounding records. There's not much surface noise and a really good stereo mix. What exactly are you guys hearing that is so bad? Of course there is the possibility that there is a streak of poorly pressed copies or a only a small streak of well pressed copies. This. I own an original on silver. I wouldn't say it sounds bad but I most definitely wouldn't say it sounds great. The CD quality is much cleaner, especially in the louder parts. I listen to it all the time and love it but... in my opinion, it would benefit greatly from a high quality heavy weight virgin black vinyl press with an absolutely killer vinyl master to work from. I am an inch away from biting on this boot. I would not be at all surprised if the sound is as good, or even better but in a different sort of way. Yes, that happens often, however I see sellers that were listing under the OG release are now listing under the new release page. I would check both for this new release. If we are to believe that there's anywhere from 10,000 - 15,000 OG presses, I highly doubt an unofficial release would impact the price of the silver press... .here's hoping I'm wrong tho!
