  1. Next week is Arcade Fire and a couple weeks after that I'm flying out to Toronto to see The Cure at Riot Fest. Nice way to close out the summer.
  2. I've always loved MCR and am excited to see what Gerard does with a britpop influence. Will pick this up for sure!
  3. Thanks! Two hours is good enough for me. Looks like I'm off to Toronto then.
  4. I'm seriously considering flying out for the Toronto RF to see The Cure, since they're one of, if not my all-time favorite band and I've been waiting years and years to come to Mass again with no results. Just a question for seasoned veterans of Riot Fest - how long do you think they'll be playing as headliners? Looking at past schedules, it looks like the headliners almost always got only an hour and 15 minutes of stage time, an hour and 30 if they were lucky. The Cure are known for their long sets - they're usually given a minimum of two hours as a headliner. I just don't want to spend hundreds of dollars to get there only to see a brief (by their terms, anyway) set and no other bands on the bill for Saturday really interest me except maybe the Lips and DFA.
  5. Also, I teared up this morning watching Jim propose to Pam on The Office. I'm going to be a mess when I get to the wedding.
  6. Some ones that immediately come to mind... Control How to Train Your Dragon (#2 especially, I was such a mess in that theater...) Dead Poets Society What's Eating Gilbert Grape The Silence of the Lambs ("that" scene between Clarice and Hannibal, not that it's sad but because it's just so incredible) Life Aquatic The Fox and the Hound Les Mis
  7. This thread reminded me that I have a bunch of Criterion laserdiscs I picked up a while back that I should dig out just for fun.
  8. It was just the season finale - season 3 was greenlighted. But of course, that's not going to air until the beginning of next year.
  9. I found this on the Ticketmaster merch store of all places. Mine arrived today in a decent sized box with no corner dings or anything. The shipping sucks (came to about $17 with tax) but it's better than paying $140+ on eBay.
  10. Here's what I can think of right now. I'm limiting it to one per artist and only albums I physically own on vinyl. No particular order. Radiohead - OK Computer The Cure - Disintegration The Horrors - Primary Colours Deerhunter - Microcastle/Weird Era Cont. Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory? of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? New Order - Low-Life The Killers - Hot Fuss Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City
  11. Chapterhouse - Pearl 7" Slowdive - Souvlaki LP (180g reissue) of Montreal - Jigsaw Puzzle 7" Various - Whirlyball Split 7" (clear) Deerhunter / Pylon - Cover + Remix 7" Thom Yorke - Analyse 12"
  12. Saw The Killers play a warm up show in CT ahead of some festival they're playing down south later in the week. Setlist was a little short, but the show itself was stripped-down and felt pretty intimate despite the fact it was in an arena. Plus I was finally able to get up front, which was cool since the first time I saw them (and when I saw Brandon play a solo show back in 2010) I had pretty crappy seats. Good show. They have yet to disappoint me live.
  13. Mason Verger scares the shit out of me.
  14. Got my splatter in today and it looks beautiful. There's a skip during the first song on side B, though, so looks like I'm going to have to talk to JNR for a replacement.
  15. Just got a ship notice for the gold splatter from JNR! Can't wait to see what this looks like in person.
  16. Primarily Alt/Indie, with a decent amount of glam, electronic, punk and experimental/psych thrown in.
  17. Yeah, I think that's what got me on this one. There was no immediate "wow" moment like when I listened to Primary Colours and Skying for the first time. (That and I consider PC to be one of my top 5 albums ever, so it's pretty hard to beat for me.)
  18. This is my new favorite album from this year so far.
  19. I know Tom (synths) posted a test pressing of a "B-Sides" single a few weeks back on Instagram. He didn't mention what size but I'm going to assume it was a 7" since there were only two tracks. They're the two Japanese bonus tracks on the CD release, I believe.
  20. Did anyone else listen to the leak? The stream's coming out today, I think. I was pretty underwhelmed by it to be honest, which is a shame because The Horrors are one of my favorite bands out there at the moment. I think a lot of the songs have potential for a live setting, though.
  21. Another thumbs up for the Record Exchange here. There's also a place in Concord, NH called Pitchfork Records that has some "newer" used stuff sometimes, along with a decent selection of new records. Don't know how far that is from you, though. I'll probably think of more later.
