I highly doubt there’s going to be anything special about these individual represses when they go up for sale, but it’s going to boil down entirely to how many they printed for pre-order.  I would imagine they’ll stick around until the morning but I’d feel bad if I said that with confidence and they sold out overnight.

i'm just manic enough to do it

*and broke enough to regret it

Nah.  Every National fan I’ve ever talked to listens to all of their albums.

Plus even if it was bootie, the criteria was 5-6 great albums from artists active in the last decade, right?

after that last tour i realized i'm not white enough to be in a room with fans of the national so you're prob right lmao

such a drag, even with Julien Baker showing up

I know this dude is a troll, but5 or more good-great albums of artists currently putting music out or who have in the last 10 years? I'm game. Not sure I can come up with 20, but definitely more than 1. (Came up with more than 20, but I have other stuff to do now. Gotta stop)

    The National

    Jenny Lewis

    Czarface

    MF DOOM

    Cursive/Tim Kasher projects

    Conor Oberst/Bright Eyes

    Cat Power

    Neko Case

    High On Fire

    Om

    The Appleseed Cast

    Iron Maiden

    Weezer

David Bowie (yes, Blackstar came out in 2016)

    Built to Spill

    Beach House

    Belle and Sebastian

    Death Cab For Cutie

    Earth

    Electric Wizard

    Pedro the Lion

Though I haven't like the last few, Modest Mouse

Heck, Smashing Pumpkins are still putting stuff out within the last 10 years, right?

Even Metallica put out a pretty good album within the last 5 years.

That last National record was bootie

its weird to me to hear TMV called inconsistent, considering the output we get from so many over-the-hill bands these days, most of which should have called it quits a decade ago. and i don't agree that most TMV fans vastly prefer deloused and FTM, especially when compared to the reception of other bands' full discographies. its certainly not been my experience when talking to other fans. not trying to be the used superfan guy (and im certain that my avatar will disqualify my viewpoint), but all of these albums are appreciated. thats actually extremely rare, and rather consistent for a 21st century band, id say.

    agreed

I honestly think it's the fans more than anything, I love the fuck out of Bedlam & Amputechture, I think they both rate higher than FtM for me. There's no TMV album I actively dislike, I just don't listen to Noctourniquet as much?

Whereas a band like Modest Mouse, I actively disliked their last album and have mixed feelings throughout their discography despite loving some of their albums

Would have been nice if they’d simply announced the box set and the individual releases at the same time. People who wanted to splurge could have gone for the box and the rest of us could have just picked what we wanted.

And indeed, interesting to see what happens if the individual releases outshine the copies in the box set.

    Honestly,

they half-did. I generally agree but they answered a lot of us with soft confirmations of these individual releases too. I'm just a little surprised by how quick they announced it after the set, I was expecting something a bit later.

I don't have either of these, but I haven't heard the name Jordaan Mason since about 2005. Had a couple friends who played shows with him. Nothing to contribute, just waxing nostalgic.

Similar type deal with 09 and been feeling that nostalgia a lot lately

The album is worth checking out, I think I kind of hated it the first time I heard it but I kept revisiting it over the years and it's a favorite at this point

I saw a copy today at my local shop

for $40 I kind of wanted to pick it up but I’m thinking this is a boot, ended up picking the new Godspeed album. Anyone have a copy of this and can let me know how it sounds like? I ordered the standard version from their store a few weeks ago so that’s why I held off on picking it up

idk which boot I bought last year but it sucked pretty badly lol I ended up selling it for like $10
