  1. Yeah, I only go to the local indie theaters now. That sounds snobbier than it is, it's just that basically anything that I want to see only comes to one of them; so on the really small occasions films have a wider release I literally never notice because I'm only really watching the calendars of like 3 places...
  2. Trying to get my friend committed to catching it this weekend, definitely want to see it in a theater if possible.
  3. Looks like you can just order the 7" seperate: https://deathwishinc.com/collections/iodine-recordings/products/onelinedrawing-departure Thanks for the heads up - ordered!
  4. Sorry for the thread clutter, cramming a bunch of watching into these last few days before the cast comes off my wrist so I can get back to playing Elden Ring 😂 Watched The Old Ways on Netflix last night. Pretty forgetable little flick, nothing that makes it particularly recommendable. Also watched the European sci-fi flick Aniara (on Hulu), which is the best cosmic horror movie I’ve seen that just happens to not be a horror movie at all.
  5. My wife and I rented the new Scream last night - I thought it was a decent slasher that tries just a bit too hard to lean into the meta-meta commentary in the closing arc. But it was entertaining!
  6. Yeah, okay, I enjoyed Them. Really like the quick run time, but even with how short it is it felt a bit drawn out in the middle. Great final third though. Followed it with Knife+Heart which was a better than average sleazy modern giallo.
  7. I did a Shudder back to back of Housewife and The Seed this morning. Accidentally they go together well, both being in the light cosmic horror / kind of sleazy vein, but from different tonal approaches. Neither are anything overtly special, but they’re both competently put together and entertaining watches.
  8. Yeah, I saw High Tension in the theater when it first came out. I was going to re-visit but I think i saw that the one on Shudder right now is edited / incomplete so I'm skipping it. I've seen Among the Living (I think I've seen all of their stuff now except for that brand new one). I'll take a look at Them, I'm not a huge fan of The Strangers though.
  9. Any other particularly good ones besides the one's I've seen (I've seen Livid and Irreversible previously) here recently?
  10. Yep, Frontier(s) as well - they added 6-8 "French extremity" flicks last week. I'd seen most of them (and like 2 aren't showing up in my app that are supposed to - yay shudder 😬) but these few had been on my periphery for a bit and I needed something to do!
  11. Would rather be playing Elden Ring but am instead killing time waiting for my wrist to heal 😂 Shudder throwing a bunch of this stuff up last week was convenient though because it's given me something to watch the past couple days.
  12. Silver copies of Live at the Viper Room are starting to ship.
  13. Then I did an Inside / Frontier(s) double header this morning. (great way to start a day 😂) Inside was definitely the best I've seen from those directors, and I enjoyed it quite a bit (for certain values of "enjoy); Frontier(s) was meh and pretty standard for that post-Saw/post-Hostel timeframe.
  14. It's reputation is actually a bit unfortunate as people always seem to hold it up as this extremely difficult to stomach flick, so that always kept it lower on my list of things to watch, but I found it much more thoughtful and evenly paced than I expected. It's troubling as hell, but that's a feature, not a bug.
  15. + I watched Martyrs for the first time. Did not expect to actually enjoy it just based on reputation, but it was really good. Pitch black nihilism, but *good* pitch black nihilism 😂
  16. Watched the new Mattie Do film “The Long Walk” (great write up here: https://www.polygon.com/reviews/22962239/the-long-walk-review-mattie-do) and was really impressed with it. Watched the Turkish flick Baskin and was… less impressed. It was kind of meh.
  17. I've been mentally running through options on how to play without the use of my left thumb and 25% mobility on the other fingers on my left hand and ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ER doc said it should heal in 3-4 weeks (minor fracture thankfully) but I'll see what the orthopedist says in 90 minutes. I will say that with the 12 or so hours I've spent with it so far that it's exceeded all my expectations; which were pretty sky high already as the SoulsBorne stuff are my favorite games of all time at this point.
  18. Loving my time with it so far! Bummer that I fractured my wrist yesterday and so I’m not going to be able to play it again for a number of weeks 😂😓
  19. I just want to make sure you're noting that the standard is *only* the graphic novel and does not include the actual LPs.
  20. Wave 2 pre-order up! https://www.iam8bit.com/products/gravity-falls-soundtrack-2xlp
  21. We’ve still got three episodes of Sweet Home left - ugh life gets in the way some time - and I’m still loving it. But we took a quick pause on that last night to delay the rush to denouement (I’m going to a couple experimental composition concerts the next two nights, so it’ll be next this coming week before we can string 3 nights in a row together) to watch Hellbender (on Shudder): Another one - much like We’re All Going to the World’s Fair - with the outer coating of horror but instead is much more interested in telling a coming of age story than anything close to horror. Which is a bit odd for a movie about a mother-daughter witch duo, as in there are 100% unambiguous horror trappings here, but it’s ultimately about navigating and testing a relationship through sudden and violent change. It’s an unapologetically sweet film, so I’m sure it’ll be well received by all the horror-heads that always get really pissy when movies fail their purity test 😂
