What video games have you been playing?
iwokeinrelief replied to jayeffscene's topic in Everything Else Message Board
lol, good luck with that - I’m a few years past having to really worry about my kids sleeping through the night. I’m playing on PS5 so it’ll be like 11PM before it goes live for me. I’m work from home through the end of April (at the earliest) though so I’m not in any rush, I’ll have of lots of time to play during the days. -

I'll be on it first thing Friday for sure. It's by far the most excited I've been for a game for ages. -
PO Now - Thursday: Waiting
iwokeinrelief replied to introwebbernets's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I see the postcard image / comments above - I don’t think it one was supposed to come with the first run (clear w/blue+black splatter) of this reissue, right? I did get the fully signed setlist with mine, so I’m content, was more just curious since it’s been a bit since I ordered this. -
Completely independent of how good or bad the new TCM is I went ahead and picked up the soundtrack through Waxwork because I ❤️ Colin Stetson a great deal.

Interested to hear your thoughts on it - the reviews I've seen so far have been... less than kind. We started that Netflix limited series Sweet Home last night and I'm really digging it through one episode, even if most of it was setup. The overall trajectory they're putting in place by the end of the episode looks completely batshit insane (a quality I treasure in horror media) so very much looking forward to this one.

Not specifically horror but enough overlap to warrant mention here - my wife and I finished up that Netflix limited series Hellbound (by Yeon Sang-ho who directed Train to Busan) last night. It's a quick watch at only 6 episodes, and i highly recommend it. With a couple small caveats. First, the CGI of the angel and the creatures looks *not great* which is easy to get past, but it stands out since overall the series is really well done and in general has really solid production. Second, I went in expecting something completely different than what i got, and i should note that the series is waaaaay more meditative and contemplative than i expected. It's still pretty bonkers, but it's way more on the smart side than the crazy side.

Official Record Store Day Thread
iwokeinrelief replied to timsimmons's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Oh, I'd missed the Speed Glue + Shinki release, that's definitely on my need-to-have list. I'll also pick up the Nick Cave release, but I really don't see that one being tough at all. -

Yeah, I’m literally interested in nothing here (at least not interested in getting up / going out for anything). Maybe the Superchunk 2LP? I can’t imagine that’ll be hard to get through the afternoon online drops. -
Wrapped this up tonight. Well worth checking out, really well done, last couple episodes (especially some of the cinematography) are great. Note that it is long though - nearly 12 hours - and the high school drama continues throughout, but I greatly like the characters so I didn’t mind, and found that every episode zipped right the hell along.

I thought Slapface was fine. Less bleak/nihilistic than i wanted it to be, and somehow manages to be both heavy-handed *and* overly ambiguous at the the same. I enjoyed it though, moved pretty quickly, overall well done.

Awesome, can’t wait to check it out this week 🤣

I read (this morning) that it’s nihilistically bleak. Fair assessment?

Catching Nick Cave & Warren Ellis and Spiritualized in March; Blushing and Charli XCX in April, Bikini Kill and Bright Eyes in May. Going to Austin for both of those May shows because the Dallas venue they’re both playing sucksssss.
