  1. I should really go back and finish Elementary School...
  2. Man, you guys. That's a lot of offers. bgdesign: I'm digging your location, it would only take a day or two to get here. But sorry, not really looking to buy the "Parabol" boot. gcarn: I like that offer even more, but how much is shipping going to run me, coming from Toronto?
  3. Honestly, I can wait on 10,000 Days. It's one that a lot of people have, and probably won't be going anywhere for some time. And I hear a lot of the "official pressing" rumors, too, but I just figured I'd ask around. But I've been wanting to get the Salival boot since it surfaced on the internet, and the quality on it is reportedly amazing. Also, off topic, but I'm convinced the new album has probably been done for about a year now, and they're going to end up doing a "surprise" release. Sounds about right. Looking forward to The Pot DVD though...
  4. Are these floating around in anybody's "meh" pile? Been looking to secure them for a while now, but people are being extortionist with some of their prices. Anybody check on amazon for 10k Days? $150 last I checked. I'm not picky at all with color on 10,000 Days. Red or blue, doesn't matter to me. For Salival though, I would prefer the clear/gray combo. I'm looking to buy rather than trade, I'm fairly certain I have nothing of distinguishable value.
  5. I'd just like to get in that I thought Amputechture was a solid record. Definitely their most underrated. No wonder Omar & Cedric call it their "autistic child". Anyway, I agree with what someone said on page 1, maybe they'll take some time to re-issue a lot of the old stuff. Everything right now is too rich for my blood.
  6. Shouldn't you be nursing your broken spine right now?
  7. Dafuq? Sorry, Nocturniquet was not a good enough album to leave us with.
  8. My incompletion shames me. Although, I do have a sealed, original first press of Opiate in the mail right now...
  9. No complaints on mine, sounds great. I also found the 1994 UK Re-Issue of Gish for like $11 a week later.
  10. Really not that rare, but I picked it up in a store for $13.98, sealed.
  11. A plain black mock-up on this thread?! Whooda thunk it? Chevelle - Sci-Fi Crimes. This needs to be pressed immediately. That black thing is where the lyrics would go, but (and I can't stress this enough) I'm really lazy.
  12. Drool away: Labels are totally ripped off WB's design. Lyrics insert's not so hot, etc. Smite away!
  13. Goddamn it! Why am I just now finding this thread? I do this all the time, except on Microsoft Paint (yeah, I'm a real cheapskate). I scan CD artwork and then feng-shui it into looking like vinyl artwork. Usually turns out really cool. I'll post some that I've seen people on here begging for actual presses of.
  14. ^ That's all correct. In 1993, Undertow was released ONLY as the promotional vinyl. Gray cover artwork/colored vinyl, etc. I'm fairly certain both the gray and clear came out at the same time. The actual commercial press of Undertow didn't see the light of day until 1996, when Ænima came out.
  15. My Morning Jacket - It Still Moves 180g. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's not rare. Sounds fucking great, though!
  16. ^ This guy gets it. Also look into the Tool - Salival bootleg. Expensive foily-sleeve thing, incredible sound quality. And to reprise the Frank Ocean - Channel Orange discussion, I've heard the sound quality is very good. To say that a bootleg of a CD album could only sound bad is simply a non-truth.
  17. I pray to the forum gods that this one doesn't end up adrift on page 10 by tomorrow, but whatevs. There's at least a dozen or so topics on this subject, but I found no useful information on any of them. (Other than making a single-sided, crap-sounding, pirated record with silicon and liquid plastic.) The question being: How do I take an album that does not exist on vinyl, and press it on vinyl? Apparently, you need either permission from the label, or the rights to the music. Or a shit ton of money to start your own record company. But that can't be, vinylized boots pop up all the time. I recall seeing the Frank Ocean - Channel Orange bootleg thread on here just today. Somebody's doing this, and they can't all be millionaires. Anyone who has posted in this thread: http://boards.vinylcollective.com/index.php?/topic/62195-albums-that-should-be-pressed-on-vinyl/, probably knows the feeling. How might 20 or 30 people band together and get a record pressed for their own personal amusement?
  18. DUBUQUE, IOWA - Not sure why anybody would want to travel here, but here we go anyway: Moondog Music 806 Wacker Drive Dubuque, IA 52002 (563) 583-7041 Tons of incense floating around inside, but you're all probably used to that. Good selection, good prices. Not a huge store, so your browsing probably won't last longer than 30 minutes. Lots of CD's too, if anyone remembers those. The back corner is a head shop. <-- True story. CD's 4 Change 3305 Asbury Rd Ste 2 Dubuque, IA 52002 (563) 583-9757 Really great place to shop. Don't let the name fool you, there's definitely more vinyl than CD's. But, again, not a very big place, so you'll see everything in the store in about half an hour. Only bad thing I would say is they sell a lot of bootlegs, but try and play it off like they're not bootlegs. I, personally have no problem with boots, but I still want to know what I'm buying. I bought the "Tool - Lollapalooza '93" boot there, then returned it, guy behind the counter gave me a hard time. Still, never passed up an opportunity to stop in. Unforgivable Records 375 Bluff Street Dubuque, IA 563-582-2890 Only been there a handful of times, but the only reason I don't go more often is that it's kinda hard to find. It's operated out of a guy's apartment(?), upstairs from a coffee shop. The store is unique in that a lot of the merchandise is the guy's own collection which he displays and sells and lets strangers finger through. Not sure I could do that. The guy is really nice, and knows his stuff, not like some stores where the guy behind the register has never spun a record. Cheap stuff, usually, and used/refurbished 'tables as well. Definitely a hidden gem.
  19. Interesting. Is anybody's copy not that way? Or is it a mis-labeling type deal on all of them?
  20. Rush - Test For Echo (Seriously?! Still?!) King Crimson - Thrak King Crimson - The ConstruKction of Light
  21. Updated. Think that's all the releases, can't be sure about all my fact-checking though.
  22. No problem. This is something I will be editing/adding to frequently, so stay tuned. Updated whenever new info is brought up/becomes relevant/is requested.
  23. toolvinyl.com hasn't been updated in a very long time, and their information on bootlegs is less than useless, as they are diametrically opposed to the creation and sale of bootlegs; while I maintain that a good collection can include well-made boots. And quality on the Lateralus picture disc: I, too have heard both good and bad things, (mine's kinda noisy). It's all one pressing, correct? Or was there a point when they produced them differently? It's still in print, even. Came out in 2005, and sealed copies are still everywhere today. Edit: Green 10,000 Days -- This exists. Pics on Google Images. Simple as that.
  24. I think they wanted to keep the "Disposition-Reflection-Triad" thing intact, but seeing as how the re-arranging disrupted that anyway, it makes no sense. And you're right, it is annoying because that was the highlight of the album! And as far as the pic disc goes, I see the reference to the original CD artwork, with the anatomy layers, and I think it's really cool, but I'd like to see a plain ol' black vinyl release for quality's sake. Hell, make it a 3xLP for a fit that keeps the trilogy together, and do an etching on the side you don't use.
