  1. No Puscifer references yet? "Donkey Punch The Night" is a solid 3/5 once you stop laughing.
  2. We've lost another great one. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-22210378 All the albums he did artwork for, I recall were amazing.
  3. I just got an e-mail from Amazon saying this has shipped. Odd, seeing as their official Facebook page said it's been delayed until the 30th. Good or bad news? Edit: Got mine the other day. No clue why, but whatevs. Pics here: http://www.discogs.com/Praxis-Profanation-Preparation-For-A-Coming-Darkness/release/4483363
  4. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Praxis-official/163734697006577?fref=ts Well, looks like this is getting moved back to the 30th. So, uhh... bump? Pre-order's still up (although I don't think it's being called that anymore), and price has gone down a buck or two.
  5. Yep. It's true, it happens. I still feel there's a big difference between buying a record to flip immediately, and selling one you've owned for a decade. At any rate, if you're going to sell a record you want to make a profit on, do it on eBay with a $0.99 starting bid, no reserve, no BIN, and let it sell for what it sells for. (Sweet Jesus, can you imagine what's going to happen when Pearl Jam breaks up?!) But, while we're at it, let's talk about if it's worth it to keep a record sealed, and what all our "white whale" records are. I am not serious.
  6. Welcome to VC. Better not make the same mistake I did and bring up anything about how people make bootleg records. Also, agreed, this "price jacking" on bands that just broke up is ridiculous. Try being a fan of The Mars Volta.
  7. Yeah, why hasn't this been said more? I recall when the Lateralus 2xLP came out for the first time, they made autographed copies available only to Tool Army members. Didn't they charge way extra for those too? I'm not a member, so I could easily be mis-remembering this.
  8. Adam Jones briefly mentions his love for vinyl artwork: http://www.spin.com/articles/tool-opiate-reissue-limited-edition-adam-jones Possibly makes it more likely to see a vinyl release for this, even if I'm not convinced...
  9. Been seein' this on all my Buckethead forums lately. Kinda surprised I've seen nothing of this on VC, what with all the obscure music everybody else listens to... (Oh wait, it's not indie.) Anyway; avant-garde supergroup founded by Bill Laswell. I believe this was their last record, came out in '08, and it looks like they're doing a vinyl release in April. Featuring: Bill Laswell, Buckethead, Brain (of Primus), Iggy Pop, Killah Priest, Serj Tankian, Rammellzee, Bernie Worrell, etc. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profanation_%28Preparation_for_a_Coming_Darkness%29 Pre-order here: http://www.amazon.com/Profanation-Preparation-Coming-Darkness-Praxis/dp/B00BDZV6QI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1363556602&sr=8-1&keywords=praxis+profanation
  10. Fuck it, re-done. So damn proud of how this one turned out. The artwork is so..."vinyl-y"...
  11. I've seen just about every combination of colors for this one, so there's bound to be a double black copy floating around out there. If the guy who pressed these was smart, he'd make more of these, and since I've never seen any black vinyl for this bootleg before, I'm guessing they're still being produced, only a matter of time.
  12. Yeah, I saw that too. From what I can tell, the music's going to be the same as any copy of Opiate, right? It sounds like they're just overhauling the artwork, with some sweet 3D stuff. If that's the case, isn't it just easier to get the re-issue on vinyl for like 8 bucks? I'd love to see some more vinyl from Tool, seeing as how we've had no official vinyl releases since 2005, but I'm not holding my breath.
  13. Well, just in case it wasn't annoying enough trying to differentiate between Ænima pressings, here's this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261181797107&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123 The much more realistic bootleg now comes on black vinyl, thereby confusing anyone else who may not think to look at the barcode/spine/inner sleeves. I sent the guy a PM and told him it was a boot, he was cool with it, and changed the description. He's also selling an actual OG press too, in case anyone wants to check that out.
  14. I know what sticker you're talking about, most of them also had the large, "old-school" Parental Advisory stickers, too. Don't know if they differed from 1st to 2nd pressings, but the ones you saw could've just had them taken off. I haven't owned an OG copy of either, but I'm told the 2nd pressing has a much larger "TOOL - AENIMA" on the spine. Also, BMG/Zoo logos on the back would help you out.
  15. Every fan of Hybrid Theory on here just got smite-raped for voicing their genuine musical opinion. Ah, Vinyl Collective...
  16. This continues to perplex me: I often see complaints on this board when a new release comes out with say, a 24 minute side. Understandable, sound quality sometimes suffers because of this. Yeah, I know, it all depends on the volume, who mastered/cut it, etc. Deftones' new one sticks in my mind, but it sounds fine on my end. Back in the 90's, though, there was a barrage of 50+ minute rock albums that were squeezed onto 1 record. Examples: Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine - Both sides about 25 mins. Bush - Sixteen Stone - Side A is 28 minutes. Pearl Jam - Ten (Original) - Side A is 28 minutes. Pearl Jam - Vitalogy (Original) - I don't own the OG, but I know it's 1 LP, adding up the track lengths on side B comes to 32 minutes. Please tell me I'm wrong, and they left something out. Any worse offenders? How do they sound? Keep in mind, I'm not as anal as some people are.
  17. Tool - Ænima/Ænema = on-i-muh Trippin' people up since 1996. Straight up, word. (People still say that, right?)
  18. Looks like I'm still gonna be in the market for a nice copy of Salival. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
  19. I'm hearing a lot of "I need TMV vinyl!". I'm saying, "Get in line." Damn, they need to do some re-issues.
  20. This just arrived today. Original, first press, sealed. Not even thinking about opening it, I already have the re-issue to listen to. Updated the section for this one, too.
  21. "Why does everyone jump in my ass when I say 'vinyl'?"
  22. You're absolutely right! Can I borrow 10,000 dollars? But seriously, I so would if I had the time, and if I knew half the stuff about pressing records that some of you guys do.
  23. Chevelle - Point #1. Insert and all. Goddamn, this needs to be pressed.
