OK, so Ill try to be brief.
Goodwill is a giant umbrella label and unfortunately with so many apples in the barrel there is some bad ones.  Goodwill is ran independently region to region, so my experience/knowledge is only what the STL area does for our community.  We helps thousands of people in our community in a number of areas.  We have housing for battered women, work programs to keep juveniles out of jail and off the streets, and yes our biggest outreach is helping to train and employee people who would not other wise be employed.  This employment is not mainly in our stores but in various environments depending on their work skills/abilities.  We have one workshop where works strip used computers to be recycled, a large crew that cleans offices/factories at night, and teams that repackage "local brand" products for area stores.  Some of the people in these work shops make more than me and yes some of them make less than minimum wage, it is based on what their work output ( basicly a per peace pay and not hourly pay.)  We are non-profit company and every penny we can raise goes into local organizations.

That being said our reasoning for online sales is we want to make as much money as we can to help as many people as we can.  We sell items in stores at reasonable prices most of the time, but yes some items have a high value.  The average customer we get into a store does not look to spend hundreds of dollars on their visit for a diamond ring or top of the line record player so we sell them online to broaden our customer base.  Once again I can not speak for every areas sales goal online, but only what I do locally.  Yes some of the stuff we sell goes for more than it's worth, but a lot of it sells for way less.  I would say about 75% of what we sell goes to resellers who buy from us to make a profit themselves.  I have 0 problem with what ever people do with an item after they buy it from us, but in my opinion I want to try as hard as I can to get as much money as I can to our organization and not let people buy stuff cheap from us just to make their own profit.

On that note...I should get back to work.  Check out what we have for sale because you never know what you will find at Goodwill!

I run the St Louis regions Shopgoodwill sales.  We sell very few records as most of the stores don't know what is what and it is pretty much impossible to train them on vinyl. But we have sold some amazing record players on our site.

20 years from now it'll be in the thrift store bins.
Same goes for all the vinyl that's being put out right now.

I just listed what I liked. No thought given to the bands position in the grand scheme of things, only their position in my heart.

Of the 10 artists you've just posted, I can't say I've even heard mention of a single one. I am familiar with 2 of the 8 labels, though.

There are definitely obscure gems out there, but I'd say it's silly to think that obscurity is directly proportionate to quality. (Even though I suspect you were being a little sarcastic.)
And continuing with said sarcasm, I've got to say that a lot of "big name" artists killed it, this year.

They do use their same store accounts, they don't care if people know, they are shitty for doing that to longtime customers, by it's business, in this case it is very shady but still business on their part. It is not hearsay on bullmoose and ameoba, they indeed have been flipping and still are.

Don't know if I ever posted mine, but it is a 1st pressing test press of Rancid - Self Titled 7". I have the mid 90s repress test on black vinyl that I got for I believe around $150-$200, but the 1st pressing test is on blue vinyl and limited to 5 copies. 2 have surfaced on eBay. Someone was selling a copy that used to be Matt's about 5 years ago and it went for over $500 and that was just too much money. The other copy was one that someone bought off of Brett and they sold it for around $400 on eBay about 2 years later (still too much. I would probably spend $250-$300 tops). The 3 remaining copies, at least I assume, are with Tim, Larry Livermore, and Chris Applegren if they didn't sell their's off.

I got my hands on an original Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon UK release with the solid blue prism on the record label. It was an estate sale and the lady didn't know how much this record is sought after. I tried telling her, but she just wanted everything gone. I paid $25 for it!!! Holy S***! It is complete and has all the posters and stickers, the black inner sleeve and the midnight blue/black sleeve. The vinyl is easily VG++ with just a few trace marks. I'd love to hold onto this baby for a while, but cash flow is low at the moment, so  I have to part ways with it, but only at the right price.

For the condition it's in, I'll take offers over $300.

Call me crazy but I don't consider a record a white whale if you can actually locate it on a daily basis.

To me a white whale should be a record that you simply cannot locate (or have to spend a significant amount of time locating), even when you have the funds available to purchase it.
