  1. NPR annotated his speech with fact checking. It's a pretty objective look at the claims he made in the speech. http://www.npr.org/2016/06/22/483100251/fact-check-trumps-speech-on-clinton-annotated Maybe it would have resulted in a closer race, but this level of muckraking makes me feel sick. And, sure, as the above article shows, Clinton has not always been the most honest politician. There are definitely questionable aspects to her past. But I feel a lot more comfortable when Sanders says in a debate "I don't believe she has the judgment to be president and here are the qualified reasons why" versus Trump spewing insults, insinuation, half-truths, and conspiracy theories between what would otherwise be rational points.
  2. I think I'm most upset by the verb "Vinylize". It makes me feel like I need to take a long look at my life and priorities.
  3. Poor Tug. He was so young. And his records were so unprotected.
  4. I had it explained to me once that the farther left someone is on social and political issues, the less likely they are to disassociate verbal and physical abuse. So someone who is super far left could have the same emotional or even physical reaction from getting punched in the face as they would from, say, encountering a peaceful protest put on by the Westboro Church. The opposite is also true, people who are farther right tend to be more capable of controlling their emotions and are more likely to disassociate verbal and physical abuse. It might be complete bullshit, you know. But taken with a grain of salt, it might explain why it's more likely for protests at Trump rallies to become violent than the opposite.
  5. Nice! I was just about to order the green, but I'd definitely rather go with the glow-in-the-dark. Wonder why this one wasn't listed on the products page.
  6. That would be nice. I kind of regret not taking an LGBTQ studies course when I was in college, it probably would have been really eye opening and interesting.
  7. Ancient Greece Honestly, I don't know. If you're claiming to be the expert on the history of LGBTQ people, then I will defer to what you're saying. Because I'm not an expert, just felt like that was a pretty broad statement.
  8. History of the world feels like a bit of an overstatement. Definitely in the history of the US. But you could say that about a lot of groups and that doesn't mean everything's honkey dory.
  9. Maybe I'm a little alone on this, but it doesn't bother me that Hillary Clinton is unscrupulous and probably even a liar. Maybe it would be good to have a president that is deceitful and tactful. Maybe she could trick politicians into voting for her stuff. I don't know, but I do know that the president's job isn't to be liked as a person. And I think that part of the reason some of President Obama's efforts have fallen short has been because he wasn't a total dick when dealing with the other parties. Clinton seems like she'd be a dick and get shit done.
  10. Yeah, who would have thought that a thread on Donald Trump would have turned nasty Great
  11. Super off-putting you keep putting Trump and America in all caps and protestors in quotation marks. People aren't going to vote for a candidate just because they disagree with the way the media is presenting their detractors. That's ridiculous. If anything, if they want to get rid of these people they vote for the person the protestors are advocating for, so that they'll just shut up. There's no logic in voting for a person because you hate their protestors. If they're elected, that's another 4 years of dealing with their protestors. If they lose, protestors go home.
  12. Eesh. That doesn't sound great. Still, one kid doesn't necessarily represent them all. The flag burning has been an interesting issue. I don't know if I agree that it helps or hurts Trump. Because here's the thing: studies that I don't feel like tracking down right now but definitely exist have shown that Republicans and Democrats view the American flag differently. It's why when you go to a Tea Party rally you see a lot of very clean flags and when you go to an Occupy Wallstreet rally, people are dragging flags, burning them, waving flags with corporate logos instead of stars. Because Republicans tend to view symbols of patriotism as powerful and meaningful. And generally Democrats just see them as pictures and symbols. Or: someone on the left is far less likely to have an emotional reaction to a symbol of patriotism. I don't remember if there was an exact reason why that was or not. I'd have to look it up again. (Something like the left is even a little wary of being too patriotic). But if left-wing anti-Trump protestors burn American flags, it's not something that's going to radically affect a person who is also left-wing. But it'll definitely piss off a right-winger and get a message into the media. So it doesn't help their cause because it reinforces bias among the right-wing, but it doesn't hurt their cause because that bias pretty much already existed.
  13. It's not unusual for people to use violence to get points across. If Trump is elected, I would fully expect for there to be riots. I would agree that's not appropriate, but also might argue that these people are disenfranchised and angry and don't have a proper outlet. So their actions aren't surprising, even if they are wrong. And also the article does mention arrests. I can't watch the videos because I'm at work, but the article you posted seems much closer to the truth. And doesn't mention anything about anti-Trump Hispanic men beating a white woman.
  14. Ok, but lets be fair, you just quoted an article from Breitbart. I'm going to go out on a limb and say there's probably more to this story.
  15. a tech company is calling the woman's health bluff. I don't see it working out. Which is unfortunate - even if there isn't that much to gain politically, it still would have been a fun debate. It doesn't seem like we get a lot of fun debates anymore, it all has to come with an agenda. http://www.politicususa.com/2016/05/27/tech-company-calls-trumps-bluff-offering-put-10-million-sanders-debate.html
  16. It's not the pain that bothers me so much as it is the sitting perfectly still for hours, just trying to zone out
  17. I want to get a new tattoo but I can't think of what I want. I'm thinking about going big, I've just got a bunch of disconnected little ones. I'm thinking I want to find a good artists and just get like a quarter or half sleeve in one good go.
  18. Just under 2 weeks here. A bunch of my friends went and saw them at Hollywood Bowl a couple days ago, said it was amazing.
