  1. One other thing, I don't think anyone should be that upset over the DNC emails. Yes, maybe it's unethical for party management to favor a primary candidate and use the weight of the party's influence to ensure that candidate's victory. But I have no problem with the NeverTrump movement. And because the Republicans didn't step up and take care of Trump when they had the chance, every Republican politician in the country is going to deal with the backlash. No matter what, whether he wins or loses, his candidacy hurts the party. And so with that in mind, I think it would be hypocritical of me to badmouth the DNC for what they did. Because Clinton is the stronger candidate. And while I sided more with Sanders on issues, I would find it tough to argue that he'd be a more effective leader.
  2. I really don't see the sellout bit, and I don't see how Hillary is so corrupted and evil. Bernie never had a chance of winning. He knew and his (reasonable) supporters knew it. That wasn't what his campaign was about. And to the point about the donations, I donated about $100 and I am glad that he endorsed Clinton. I feel that was donation money well-spent. Because his campaign pulled the party to the left and showed that there is massive support for social programs/initiatives and entitlement programs. Now Clinton is going into the general with a platform that highlights equality and social justice. In addition to one Sander's biggest draws, the promise to enact legislation to make public colleges free of charge to 83% of young Americans. I think it's ridiculous that anyone could see that as selling out. If anything, his campaign accomplished more than anyone could have possibly imagined. A fringe candidate that wasn't even a member of the party influenced major policy and platform change for the presidential nominee. I see that as an enormous victory for the Sanders camp and supporters.
  3. The GoHastings site has been replaced with a banner Looks like the massive going out of business sale is going to be in-store and not online. I have an email out to them to confirm, I'll update if/when they get back to me.
  4. I said early in the primaries that I'd take Trump if we just made a social contract that republicans would shut up for 4 years. I'm so sick of people ragging on Obama and I don't know if I can deal with another 8 years of liberal hate on my facebook feed. And Trump presidency might give the Trevor Noah Daily Show that kick it's been needing to be good. I honestly wouldn't bet on him winning. Michael Moore's thinking it's going to happen. But the only person we've seen him debate that was even halfway rational was Jeb Bush, and Trump consistently got his ass handed to him. When Trump and Clinton take the stage, Clinton's just going to wipe the floor with him.
  5. I'll bet they're trying to make it only mildly inconvenient to pirate 8 days ahead of it's release. Also why the songs get louder at the end instead of softer.
  6. Seriously tho, switching back and forth between Best Coast and Wavves is a pretty good bet
  7. It's about 3 minutes long, so I'd say just burn a playlist with this one on it 26 times.
  8. Excited for another Against Me! - I really thought Laura was going to call the band quits after TDB
  9. Or maybe somewhere on another forum someone's making a useless thread about finding 2 copies of a 70s Kinks record side 3/4 in a thrift store
  10. Seeing John Doe tonight at a country/western club. I'm really not sure what to expect because I haven't spent a lot of time with his solo stuff and it seems like a strange venue for him to be booked at.
  11. Mine too. I'm hopeful for a pressing of Ups & Downs one day, but I think we'll probably have to be satisfied with CD. In Reverie will definitely get pressed again eventually. Probably the same week as Demon Days.
  12. Looks like the free shipping for over $50 is being calculated off either pre-sale price or pre-30% off sale price. I just picked up Joy Division - Closer, Citizen - Everybody is Going to Heaven, and Placebo - Without You I'm Nothing for $35 shipped.
  13. I really hated The Pixies for years. I'm not even sure why, I just developed a blind dismissal. When people brought them up in conversation, I would just shrug and say something about how I thought Fight Club was a cool movie. I still don't listen to them a lot, but I'll put them on every now and then and I'm not a dick about it when other people listen to them.
  14. No, taxation is how we build roads. Also sometimes walls, when Mexicans won't just do it on the super cheap.
  15. A German company that builds walls is one of Hillary's biggest campaign donors? Also, seriously guy, the wall in Israel as an example of what's a good idea? Why don't you just put up a picture of the Berlin Wall?
  16. I honestly hope I'm wrong about this tax thing and someone can set me straight, because it's bothered me for months that I haven't heard anyone talking about it. The way I read his plan, it sounds like one of the most reckless and short-sighted tax cuts in history. Like, Reagan would look at that and go, holy shit dude what are you doing?
  17. You're very wrong about that tax thing. From what I read, you claim that a 15% flat corporate tax would incentive corporations to cease using tax havens or loopholes in order to avoid taxation, thereby increasing the tax revenue. Walmart definitely avoids paying their taxes as much as they can. One of the ways they do so is by taking advantage of tax havens, as you mentioned. Meaning that they move revenues/profits into other corporate branches overseas where the tax rate is substantially lower. This sucks, this creates an unfair advantage for Walmart versus small business. And it's totally unethical considering that it's pretty well-known that a huge proportion of Walmart's staff need to supplement their income with social welfare programs. But on their 2016 financial statements for the US it very clearly shows that they had $21B in income before taxes and paid $6.5B in taxes. 31%. Technically they should be paying 35%, but they use loopholes to reduce their percentage liability. Cutting this number to 15% and then believing that there's so hypothetical way of removing all corporate tax loopholes so that it's actually 15%, you have still lost $3.35B in tax revenue, and that's just one company. You talk about fixing the broken system. I don't see it as broken. One thing that bothers me really is the "Make America Great Again" slogan. It's like, fuck off, America is great. I like it here a lot. It's not a utopia and it never will be, but we're all working pretty hard and things are going pretty good for most of us. You know what won't make America great? Cutting the tax rate literally in half for billion dollar corporate giant companies.
  18. That's nothing compared to his tax plan. Which is one of the main reasons I'm convinced I won't vote for him. He wants to put a 15% cap on corporate taxes, under the guise that this is for mom & pop shops. Which is a total fabrication, because most small businesses already pay less than 15% in corporate tax. But that 15% cap is going to mean that Walmart will be paying hundreds of millions less in taxes each year. Which the average small business might end up paying only a couple thousand, at the most. He also wants to abolish the estate tax, which as it stands only applies to estates worth an excess of $5.45 million. I just don't see how we could possibly invest in social programs and social welfare when so much of our tax base would be disappearing.
